The great Harry Dean Stanton died on September 15, 2017 at the age of 91.

David Lynch wrote the following about Stanton:

“The great Harry Dean Stanton has left us. There went a great one. There’s nobody like Harry Dean. Everyone loved him. And with good reason. He was a great actor (actually beyond great) – and a great human being – so great to be around him!!! You are really going to be missed Harry Dean!!! Loads of love to you wherever you are now!!!”

Not only was Stanton in Fire Walk with Me and Twin Peaks The Return, but has been in numerous roles through the years. As of this post, Stanton has had almost 200 acting credits, according to IMDB.

Stanton’s first role was in a TV series in 1954 at the age of 28. Born in Kentucky in 1926, Stanton went on to perform in both movies and TV shows, including the movies Alien and The Godfather Part II, and HBO’s Big Love.

Stanton also served in the US Navy as a cook during WWII, and was on a tank landing ship during the Battle of Okinawa.

Stanton’s final movie will be released at the end of September – Lucky.

LUCKY follows the spiritual journey of a 90-year-old atheist and the quirky characters that inhabit his off the map desert town. Having out lived and out smoked all of his contemporaries, the fiercely independent Lucky finds himself at the precipice of life, thrust into a journey of self exploration, leading towards that which is so often unattainable: enlightenment. Acclaimed character actor John Carroll Lynch’s directorial debut, “Lucky”, is at once a love letter to the life and career of Harry Dean Stanton as well as a meditation on mortality, loneliness, spirituality, and human connection.
