Q: Which should I watch First: FWWM or the Series
A: For the first time viewer, we recommend watching the pilot, then the series, THEN FWWM.
The reason for this is because the killer is revealed in the movie, and although it is later revealed in the series, it may spoil your viewing pleasure and spoil the rest of the show.

and I know this question has been asked soo many times, the diary book from Laura Palmer, where does that fit in? Just wondering.

Well, the diary was written in between the first and second seasons, although I read it after I had finished watching the series and the film for the first time. I think it's best when read after seeing the movie, or at least after watching the series.

I'd suggest that anyone watching Twin Peaks for the first time should watch the TV Pilot (and not the European version) after Coopers dream watching the European version is safe. And as far as Laura's Diary goes- read it between season one and two or when (spoiler) SPOILER The secret diary is discovered in Harold's home. END SPOILER And to be a completionist, I'd read Cooper's My Life My Tapes around the time we see Windom Earle for the first time.
