I gotta go with episode 16.  Even with Cooper leading the motley crew of suspects into the Roadhouse and the freeze frames and Laura whispering, "My father killed me," I was starting to feel uneasy about the direction after following it so lovingly for half a year but the moment I got really worried was the ending with the computer generated owl flying through the junk yard.

i think that jumped the shark is too harsh. the best way to sum up post-leland TP is it's like you're watching mash from episode 1, then in the middle of season 2 you suddenly skip to the last season. who are these terrible new people*? why do i suddenly not like this very much? who's writing this? everything just feels so milquetoasty and tired, everyone just wants to go home.

*i'd rather watch hidden camera footage of hawk's day off than anything having to do with any character introduced in season 2. they had a lot of good stuff ready to roll, and they wasted the hell out of it.

I've always noticed how all of Lynch directed episodes in season 2 do not feature any of the 'half baked' characters...much to their advantage. In response to jumping the shark, i dont feel it ever truly does...maybe the DEVIL NICKY andy fantasy...

Then again, it depends upon how you see Twin Peaks...I am certain that some people feel that ep 29 'takes it too far' with the 'surreal' stuff becoming truly explicit.

i actually like james quite a bit, i've never been on board that particular haters crew*. he reminds me of myself when i was 17...well...except for being cool, even remotely good-looking, or having a social life...but i think a lot of teenagers become obsessed with "love" as a panacea for their emotional problems. james is trying to replace his drunk, shitty mom with someone, anyone. it's a pretty decent character who sang one goofy song.

*(unless we're making forehead jokes)

It wasn't meant as a hate James post, just that he died before reaching Wallies

Starting with Leland and ending with everyone in the bank, the second half of the second season should just have been about all the characters dying.

I don't think it ever officially jumped the shark (or nuked the fridge).  I think it tried to after episode 16, but just smashed into the shark and eventually got saved by a fishing boat off the coast of Africa.

Do you think most people on here hate the 3 of us for posting non-serious off topic trash all the time?
