Well.

I really don't know!

And I have no clear ideas which scenes could turn out most popular. Questions in the world of blue? Goodnight princess? I love you James? These are the most 'moving' ones.

But then there are also the ones with BOB. Rape. Killing. Black Lodge.

And Jeffries.

And Pink Room (please list Pink Room and the Roadhouse scene with Julee Cruisse SEPARATELY! these scenes have such an impact also because they make such a contrast, still they definitely are two separate).

And the incredible scene when One-eyed Man drives madly around Leland and Laura.

Let's go!

Hmm... a tough one... this is a movie where I like a lot of individual scenes, but placed in the same film, they add up to a big mess... Let's see:

1. The final scene... very beautiful and actually somehow satisfying...

2. The scene where Leland gets mad at Laura for not washing her hands... one of those Lynch scenes where you don't know whether to laugh or cry.

3. When Laura meets up with James and talks to him... it's got a classic feel to it and is reminiscent of the pilot, and I love the "I love you James!" part.

4. The scene where Bobby shoots the deputy. Bizarre and memorable.

5. The scenes with Carl Rodd (can that count?) I know it's a bunch of different scenes but his lines all kind of go together in my memory; if that doesn't count then I'd replace this with the scene where Laura sees the angel in her picture go disappear.

That god damn trailer's more popular than Uncle's Day in a whorehouse!

1. The cigarette butts on the dirty floor of the BangBang Bar segueing into the misty pines, mossy branch. Great music, great images.

2. Laura stupid high in the woods bothering the sh*t out of Bobby. Love the way it's shot, the use of soundtrack.

3. Laura dreams herself into the picture, wakes up with the ring/ warning from Annie.

4. Ronnette's prayer/angel/escape and Laura's death

5. From the moment Laura sneaks off with James 'til the moment she says her last 'goodbye.' So powerful.

 1. The final scene of Laura and Cooper in the red room

2. The Log Lady/Questions In A World Of Blue

3. The meeting above the convenience store

4. Laura jumping off James's bike

5. The angel in the train car

I also really like the scenes of Laura meeting the Chalfont's, Cooper standing on the bank of Wind River talking into his dictaphone and Cooper warning Laura not to take the ring. The five scenes I chose have been my favourites since the film was released and I doubt that'll ever change.

I ran from the noise and the silence, from the traffic on the streets

It's been a while since I last saw it, despite it being my fave Lynch film (and one of my all-time faves), but when I think of FWWM two scenes come instantly to mind:

1. The traffic scene.

2. The inaudible bar scene.

But I also love:

3. The Blue Rose scene.

4. The ending.

5a and b. The scare-me-shitless Heather Graham and picture-frame scenes.

6. The convenience store scene.

Man, there are just too many great scenes in FWWM.

1. The ending, the voice of love. Absolutely wonderful and beautiful...and fulfilling. Whenever someone complains about the series ending I remind them of the TRUE ending of Twin Peaks. Coop, Laura being sad, flash of light, voice of love, angels, Laura being happy...

2. The Pink Room. I love the mood of that scene, the loud music, the lighting and some shots that look like photographs, like Donna feeling sick, Jacques "I'm as blank as a fart" or Laura and Ronette remembering OEJ.

3. Jeffries and meeting above the store. I love how bizarre and surreal the scene gets second after second... Look, it's Coop! David Bowie! A man with a mask! And who's Judy? A monkey???!!!! Isn't that Duke Leto Atreides???!!

4. The traincar. We were told in the series how horrible it was, but when they decide to show us it's far more horrifying. I love the music, how everything stops when the angel appears, again the light,...

5. Questions in a world of blue. Beautiful music and song, of course, and very sad scene, very well done and acted.

1: The Pink Room - "I am The Great Wendt". Say no more.

2: What I call the "traffic" scene - when Mike berates Leland at the traffic lights. The audio is specifically designed to make you feel a little sick. Awesomely powerful scene - including the aftermath when Leland pulls over at the gas station. Superb performances from both Lee and Wise in that scene.

3: The Return of Jeffries - such a shock to the system when you first see this scene. You thought you knew what was happening in Twin Peaks? Think again.

4: The Log Cabin scene. By the time FWWM came out, the log cabin had become like some kind of mythical event in Twin Peaks lore - it was great to finally see it, even if it was a toned-down version.

5: "Bobby killed a guy" - at last, the answer to a question we'd been asking since the pilot episode. Great scene - Laura's little dance is too cute for words!

EDIT: the cigarette butts on the floor of The Roadhouse is indeed a beautiful image!

Has he taken his eyes off it yet?

1. Yeah! Walter O. said that George Wendt asked him what that was supposed to mean, lmao.

4. That would never have gotten past the censors!

I think the murder scene in the car is actually a weak point of the movie, it's not as scary as what we imagined, and not half as scary as Maddy's murder. Kind of a weak climax, to me at least, since there are at least five scenes in the movie scarier than that one (which come earlier in the movie)... I'm surprised how few people have posted here, FWWM seems to be a favorite on these boards.

1. The angel--Laura laughing, finally at peace, with Coop by her side.

2. The Roadhouse/Questions in A World of Blue scene.

3. Laura jumping off of James' bike.

4. The whole scene at the dinner table, when Leland is playing with Laura's necklace, and Sarah says, "Stop it, don't do that...she doesn't like that..." his Bob-ish cold glare, "How do you know what she likes!?" Gives me chills each time. Right down to the, "There's dirt...wayyyy under this fingernail...WASH YOUR HANDS!!!!" Laura crying her eyes out in the bathroom. :(

5. The "Burst into fire..." scene... "...and the angels wouldn't help you...'cause they've all gone away."

Oh my. Thank you for the fabulous read you provided with your posts - I've just gone through all of them and I'm even more confused as to my own choices. Yes it is the most beloved film of all by Mr Lynch :-)

My "nominations" included:

- the 'traffic scene', a pretty safe candidate for a number one, I find pure cinematic genius in the way this scene has been filmed; perhaps it shakes me more than the 100% moving scenes like...:

- the death scene
- I love you James
- Goodnight princess (not mentioned by anyone  ... turns out it's not on my list, either...)
- Questions in the World of Blue
- The Grand Finale

Other nominees:

- Pink Room
- Jeffries
- Laura and Donna about falling
- all the Chet/ Sam stuff

Finally I'm coming up with:

1. ...you stole the corn!!... it's him!... it's YOUR FATHER!!!!!

2. Log Lady's boughs of innocence and Questions in the world of blue

3. train car, Ronnette's prayer and the silent moment, don't make me do this... brr!

4. Jeffries

5. Pink Room

The final Vision of Love scene, which quite clearly is going to win the contest didn't make it for me... It's a beautiful ending but as a scene in itself it never seemed to me particularly outstanding. I'm surprised actually at how strong its win is going to be!

QUOTE: Honorable mention...the entire Sam and Chet stuff. I love it but no one scene stands out to me.

yes, I've got the same thing. I really really wanted to include any of those but it turned out it would hardly make it to a top ten! Yet that part of the film is great!

Top five Fire Walk With Me scenes according to this topic... (turns out to be six actually):

1. The ending... Laura, Cooper and the Angel.............................................. 45 pts.

2. Pink Room ......................................................................................... 36* pts.

3. Laura's death in the train car ................................................................ 23 pts.

4. Jeffries and the convenience store meeting ........................................... 22 pts.

5/6. The 'traffic scene' ex aequo with Questions in the world of blue ** ......... 20 pts

* including 5 points from 12 rainbow who mentioned only the very ending of this scene (and focused more on the image changing to the misty pines - but I included it because IMO it is still a part of that scene

** often mentioned together with the scene's prologue, ie. Laura meeting the Log Lady outside the Roadhouse

The scenes from 3-6. place are definitely my favourites but the domination of the two winning ones is clear in your votings. One interesting remark is that more people voted for the Death Scene than for Pink Room, yet the difference in the total of points is very big. Looks like many people placed the death scene in their top fives but only Zodas had it at number one... so all the others were wrong ;-)

All in all a very big number of scenes has been voted for but apart from thise six only I love you James got over 10 pts. (16, that is).

What a film :-)

1. The final scene with Laura in the Black Lodge and her Angel appearing to her.

2. The cigarettes and empty bottles of beer on the floor of the Pink Room.

3. Leo's Cabin where Leyland kidnaps Laura and Ronnette and takes them to the train car.

4. The murder of Laura. Not because I think it's scary, but because of the intesity of the scene.

5. The moments "grace" in the train car when Ronnette's Angel appears before her and everything seems to just stand still.

On the second day he came
With a single red rose
Said "Will you give me your loss and your sorrow?"
I nodded my head as I lay on the bed
He said, "If I show you the roses will you follow?"

On the third day he took me to the river
He showed me the roses and we kissed
And the last thing I heard was a muttered word
As he stood smiling above me
With a rock in his fist

They call me the wild rose
But my name was Eliza Day
Why they call me it I do not know
For my name was Eliza Day

damn, I lose Internet for four days and I miss two top five threads...

I skipped through all the choices so I can make my own call without outside influence...

1. Laura's murder

2. The traffic jam scene

3. Goodnight Princess

4. Questions in a World of Blue

5. The ending

p.s. any scene that contains Harry Dean Stanton rocks the house!!
