Is there any relationship between Mike Nelson and Bobby Briggs and the spirit BOB and Mike?? Remember when Bobby and Mike are in the jail cell together and they make that barking kind of noise when they see James, I think Leland makes the same noise when Coop and Harry trap him in the jail cell when BOB reveals himself through Leland. Is there any meaning behind the names???

Remember what Coop said "Different Mike, Different Bobby".

I agree that its interesting that they have the same name but I think thats part of the Lynch style of story telling. Double identities, dopplegangers etc. In Mulholland drive there's Rita and Betty/Camilla and Dianne. It plays on the same theme.

It is an interesting point about the barking in jail connection, which I would never have though of. Bobby and Leland both start acting like animals. Leland's noises reminded me more of some kind of monkey, like a gorilla whooping, or possibly the hooting of an owl.

On the other hand, it could just be a coincidence. The episodes were far apart: the pilot and maybe ep. 16? Would the writers have remembered themselves and re-used the same idea?

Good point Fred, the noises Leland made are a little different to the noises Bobby and Mike made. I wonder if the jail cells or something that dwells in the cells have any thing to do with the reactions???

Well, of course! In the cells zone all kind of nasty, evil things took place: Pete was evil and naughty with Ben, Donna wanted to "do" James through the bars, Jerry and Ben had memories of a sexy cousin/babysitter/whatever, Hank called Norma "whore" (EVIL!), Ben wanted to brush his teeth just like the evil Coop,... A nexus with the BL like Glastonberry Grove or the place in Tibet the Dugpas probably used...

Just kidding. Um, or maybe not...I don't know...

Recall, Mike & Bobby were football players, so animalistic barking would be a quite ordinary tool for psyching out an opponent (James). Odd behavior normally, but not under these circumstances & from these guys...

In that scene, Donna wears Laura's sunglasses. Remember the effects of wearing a Laura's dress in FWWM (always Donna tries to do it) and you'll know why Donna is so sexy with James in the cells zone...

Yes, and Maddy breaks her own glasses after wearing Laura's for a while...
