Hi, I fell in love with the show from the very beginning, and Badalamenti´s music can still bring a tear to my eye... I work as a musician and I recently arranged the theme for guitar. It would be nice to know what you TP fans think of the interpretation :) Thanks for listening! Regards Martin http://youtube.com/watch?v=t_06O8XnJQo

I really like it. I would listen to your performance, just as I would the official album. Have you made any tabs?

Fantastic! I have seen a lot of performances of various themes on youtube and although they are often skillful, they usually have tempo or "feel" problems. Your time feel is flowing but natural, and your interpretation of the song is just about the best I can imagine on guitar. Thank you for this.

Wow, that's awesome. Nice one! I look forward to seeing the tabs, if or when you decide to transcribe it!

i concur, quite wonderful! and i thought the baritone was a perfect fit as all these years ive just known the Fsus-F-Dm-Dsus then Bb-C changes yet hearing in my mind those C-F-C-D bass parts with the tremelo over that, as i think, tho the whole composistion is gorgeous, that bass part and the synths and rhodes really made the song special for me and now hearing your version with those parts since you have a 4th lower tuning than regular guitar is excellent. also excellent is your time and feel as previously mentioned. they really are important for the theme to sound as magical as it does. (or did you do some altered tuning? you look capoed on the second fret and your harmonics being able to do that bass melody(the C-F-G-A-G-F-C-D one, not the tremelo one) makes me think youre in an open tuning. but not having much experience with one(tho i have been thinking about getting the new danelectro electric bari they just reissued) i have only music theory and being able to look at the chords shapes you make to be able to tell how youre tuned) anyway thank you for sharing you did a truly magnificent job!

Thank you JFK! I had to do some experimenting before figuring out a way to play the bass lines together with the melody+chords. I found that it was easier to do with an open tuning, in this case open G6 (not the actual key, just what it would equal on a standard guitar with no capo), the 5th and 6th string tuned down a full step. As you say, the baritone is usually tuned a fourth lower than a standard guitar. I tuned it up a semi-tone and with the capo on the second fret and the open tuning, voila!, key of F... which is what I aimed for. (BTW, the C-F-G-A-G-F-C melody can actually be played with natural harmonics also in standard tuning.) Thanks again, glad you enjoyed it, now I´m inspired to try the Laura Palmer theme..!

Great job. I'm a sucker for familiar themes adapted to new instruments. Since I can't play, I do virtually the same thing with MIDIs run through synths. This is a lot more organic, of course.

im just curious why do you tune up a half step and then capo instead of just putting the capo at the third fret? do baritone strings lose their definition when youre using a slack tuning? or is it because of the G6 tuning sounds better with tighter strings?

Hi JFK, oh yes, I should have mentioned: tuning the guitar up a half step was because it´s then easier to hit the notes properly high up on the neck where it meets the body. It would have been much easier with a cut-away body, I guess... Thanks to all who responded so nicely! Martin

I'm looking through lots and lots of old threads these days... I found this, it's as beautiful as the harp version. Wonderful!
