Pulling my tv/vcr out onto my pine-enclosed porch and watching Twin Peaks on a sleeping bag with a pot of tea

Going into pick up my copy of 'Awake is the New Sleep' by Ben Lee (Hooray!), finding a used copy of the re-mastered version of 'Electric Warrior' for $9 (SCORE!) walking back and getting a big laugh from the promo blurb on the Ben Lee;  "includes the hit "Catch My Disease" (That's The Way I Like It) as featured in the Dell computers commercial"  Hoot! Hoot!  Tao this is a funny world!

Not watching enough T.V. to have songs I like ruined for me.

You, because...

"Your motivation is so sweet
Your vibrations are all burning up my feet
'Cos you're my baby, mmh, 'cos you're my love
Oh girl I'm just a jeepster for your love
I said girl I'm just a vampire for your love
I'm gonna suck you"

Whoop! Whoop!

Starlings, horribly obnoxious and invasive but...

One of the most amazing things I've ever seen was a flock of what must have been hundreds of them wheeling above downtown Seattle as the sun set.  The mass would turn one way and they would all but disapear, turn the other and they would be back.  The shape of the flock would change as they went along.   For about a minute there was a giant fractal dancing above the city.

Beauty found in unexpected places

I've seen similar to that out here where i work. It's right out in the country and we get allsorts of different birds flying around out here, making all kinds of strange and wonderful sounds.

Friends who, when you're having a proper shite day, ring you up and invite you out for a beer later on.

Finding money in your pocket that you didn't realise you had.

My girlfriend and her uncanny ability to make the times when everything seems so daunting and hopeless just swell up with colourful optimism.

Getting a a good haircut

Paydays

The smell of leaves burning

Dive bars

Waking up on a Saturday thinking that it's a weekday, and then pleasantly realizing that it's not, and falling back asleep.

Used book/video/music stores

When that very attractive woman from the market comes in to trade books and actually chats for a while.  I think she likes me in a 'what and interesting old freak' sort of way.

 Are you a gang member?

You have made multiple firearms references on this site.

Just curious

No, I believe an armed society is a polite society.  Thugs generally only prey on those who they know can't defend themselves. I'm not a thug, I'm also not a sitting duck.

Yeah, I'm 4'10" and 92 lbs.  I live alone in a ground floor apartment with many windows.  In general, I feel safe but don't ever want to wish I had been armed. I'm not an idiot.  Even if the odds are that I'll never get robbed or raped, believing things like that is why people get robbed and raped.  Buying a gun for a woman in my position is what's called not living in fear.  I don't mean to preach, but I got held at gunpoint once as a cashier. The police station was on the same street. I hit the 911 button under the regiester after he left and it took them half an hour to show up.  I appreciate those who serve and protect, but when it comes down to it, you have to look out for yourself.

Here's another joy:  America, and my Constitutional rights, which is why I won't vote for Obama.

Now I understand.  Makes perfect sense you being a young (and attractive) woman living alone.  Prior to your explanation it was starting to startle me LOL like you were assembling an arsenal or something for no apparent reason ;)

Having a genuine feeling that it is not completely outside the realm of possibility that one day humans could live in a world where no one has to fear that others will use force or violence to compel them to do anything that is not of their will.

That, until that day, people have the ability to find and use the tools they need to attempt to secure for themselves their rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness even if I, myself, choose not to use the same tools.

Knowing that, in the face of the historical evidence that as long as man has property, from the Stone Age til the day he lives on other planets, man will kill and steal from man, and that I won't ever have to worry about being killed or stolen from. Ahhh....
