Lynch's new project with Dangermouse and Sparklehorse can be listened to, in its entirety here: http://www.npr.org/templates/player/mediaPlayer.html?action=1&t=1&islist=false&id=104129585&m=104105184

I was excited when I heard about this, because the Flaming Lips, Black Francis (from the Pixies), Nina Persson (from the Cardigans) were gonna be featured. But it's not as good as I'd hoped. I'm not sure about the production. It sounds really overproduced, and I suppose that is always going to happen when the two producers are the stars of the album. Worth a listen though... What do you think?

Yep, overproduced pop-Moby/Donovan-arbage (2 songs in.)

Er... I mean, it's not my style, but I also don't hear Lynch in it at all.

[EDIT: until the last 5 minutes; Lynch on vox, which is cool.]

You know how DL has been producer on certain movies, in name only? I don't consider those DL movies...

(Sorry, I didn't see there was already a thread about this, but I might aswell leave this one now, unless someone wants to merge...)

It's a shame, because it sounds as if there's some good songs in this album somewhere, but the production seems as if it is trying to make every song sound the same. The vocals of someone like Black Francis are completely wasted, and the distinctive voices of Wayne Coyne and Julian Casablancas are made to sound really generic. I know nothing about Dangermouse, but I'm struggling to see how he's made a name for himself as a producer on the basis of this.

I've listened to the first four songs, and it kinda reminds me of Gorillaz so far; also reminiscent of the Peeping Tom album (which I did not enjoy).

I like this -- but I like Danger Mouse, and I like Sparklehorse, so I guess it's not too surprising.  Lynch's role definitely seems like a side-deal, though.

Pretty sure this would have been buried without the blank-cd angle, so maybe getting screwed by EMI (if that's what's happening) will work in their favor.
