Good stuff. Already 100x better than his Dangermouse/Sparklehorse project, which managed to feature some of my favourite musicians yet still be totally uninteresting. I love the Pink Room/Blue Frank music, so this has got to be good.

That sounds really good, and very evocative of the Thought Gang tracks. Looking forward to purchasing the blank CD-R and then downloading the audio stream off NPR.

i thought that "thought gang" was made up of another group of musicians, with angelo singing. i could be wrong tho. it may be mostly the same players, but dave jaurequi was brought in especially for his guitar ability for "the pink room". i remember(but not from where) lynch or angelo, or maybe even neff has said that jaurequi totally disregarded his instructions or whatever the producers wanted from him, but what he came up with was undeniably better and they just let him play. and that much more music had been recorded, but never saw the light of day. that day comes june 30th, where you can probably buy it in your better record stores. im curious, anyone know if there was a name for this band back then?

I can only assume that the old band name was "the Power and the Glory" as they are called on the FWWM Credits.

No Stars is a song written by John Neff and David Lynch with Rebekah Del Rio singing. I've heard it twice and it is a fantastic song somewhere in the vein of "the World Spins". John most recently played it at the Fest a few years back. It will not be on the Fox Bat Strategy CD.

No Stars has more pathos than The World Spins. I would love to have that song.

You can watch a live performance of No Stars here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikyuADrIsz8 And yeah, it does sound quite amazing. Those ascending/descending guitar melodies that pop in so much of Lynch's work are so simple but beautiful.

Crazy. I just got an email about this YouTube clip... (Probably due to this post) I was there and it was great to watch that clip. The song was recorded by John Neff but to my understanding, it was put on the shelf. Maybe John can shed some light to any potential release news...

http://foxbatstrategy.com has samples of all the songs on the album and a cool story about the recording of one of them.
I generally like the sound, it's BlueBob-ish with less blues.

Does anyone know when his own album is being released? I'm looking forward to that 'cos "Walkin' On the Sky", "Ghost Of Love" and "Imaginary Girl" are all great songs. I know it's auto-tuned up to the high hills, but i like his voice on them too.

I prefer Dave Lynch's vox to Dave Jarequi's. Is there going to be a solo album? Or was the Ghost of Love single with the Imaginary Girl B-side for the Inland Empire soundtrack?

The former. There is certainly an album in the works. I'll get back to you on which interview it was, because i have a number of them in audio format on my laptop, but he went into some detail about how exciting it is to sing, how great the people are who he's working on it with, etc. Did anyone see his interview on The Culture Show on Channel 4 here in the UK? It may be from that, actually.

seems some of the stores are behind on distribution, but amazon has it in stock and the album in mp3 is available for download for just under 7 dollars. the album is great. no one should be disappointed.

Can anyone who has the actual CD, tell me if the liner notes are worth paying the extra £3 for, as opposed to just getting the mp3 download?

I just got the album. It's decent. We've heard Lynch do this sound so many times though. At least Dave Jaurequi's voice brings something different to the mix. This review is a good read: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/13252-fox-bat-strategy-a-tribute-to-dave-jaurequi/ I'm not sure he justifies his 6/10 score though. The written review doesn't seem that critical.
