I am losing my interest in the contemporary work of David Lynch. Not quite right, I'm still interested... I pay attention whenever there's anything new. But it's paying off less and less for me. Inland Empire took a while, and finally did get some hooks into me. But I don't watch it much anymore, and I've tried. Boat had a little spark, but not much to hang your hat on. I thought I liked the Moby video, but I think I just liked that it surprised me. In retrospect it kind of left me with a smaller version of the empty feeling I got from this. Not used to feeling empty from Lynch's work, even the ephemera. (I love his cigarette ad, for example.) I guess I've officially flipped over to the camp who is waiting for a new major narrative work with more careful cohesion to vindicate my love.

Hey man, I don't like most of Lynch's stuff either. It's like he's trying too hard to be weird. I like a moderately cohesive story.
