I keep meaning to mention this and then I forget, but I was watching episode 9 last night and in it you get a clear view of the wallpaper in one of the back rooms at One Eyed Jacks, it's when Emory is tied up with the hoover. If you look you can clearly see that the walls in the picture that Mrs.Tremond gives to Laura in FWWM are the same. Laura uses the picture to enter the Lodge, so is there a deeper connection between One Eyed Jacks and the Lodge? Has anyone else noticed this?

It was probably a picture that was lying round on the set. Lynch saw it and thought, "Golly,I could make that seem important".

Yeah, great idea, skybaby ;) This is something typical for Lynch. This was probably thought up by him at the last minute(one of his features I adore so much) The same happened when he chose Frank Silva for the role of BOB,just at the last moment!
Beware of BOB

When I call out no one can hear me,when I whisper he thinks the message is for him only..my little voice inside my throat,I always think there must be something that I've done or something I can do...But no one no one comes to help,he says,a little girl like you...

But remember that the picture is from a set they created. We see Laura and Mrs. Tremond standing on it... It was not a picture they found.

Yes I realised this later. The picture is from part of FWWM, so it can't be the same one.

I have always felt that there was some kind of connection between the Black Lodge and OEJ... including that picture. And I always thought the BL looks the way the person sees it...or chooses to see it. LIke the BL is a mirror of your mind or the subconcious of the persons mind. Like eps 29 was a picture of Coopers inner battle with ghosts from the past, his true self ect.... He is faced with some of his greatest fears. Like Windom, Caroline/Annie not being able to protect her. Just like Bob is trying to play with him before Leland dies. Bob knows his weaker side and tries to break him down by letting him face those things.... Anyways. My point is that, this painting, might be the way Laura sees BL. This is her fear. That part of herself that is the dirty, prostitude Laura who uses people for money and drugs. The person who doesn´t show emotions. This place represents the darker Laura, this is her BLack Lodge... OEJ is also has red drapes all over btw. Ditte
Yeah but no but yeah but no but....

I've always connected the room in the picture with the room above the convenience store seen in Jeffries scene. Both rooms share also that they are connected to the Lodges, we see BOB and the LMFAP entering the drapes in that scene and I think that in the script there's something about BOB creating a ring of fire and he and the LMFAP going through it. The Grandson does something very similar, snaps his fingers, fire appears and Laura is "taken" or witnesses events from the Red Room, the scene with Coop and the LMFAP... I think what is important about the picture is not the picture itself, but who gives it to Laura and what is its purpose. There are hints that Mrs. Tremond and the Grandson collaborate with the LMFAP (his ring under their trailer, for example, the possibility that Teresa's murder took place there) and we can deduce that they give her the picture so she can have that dream and know about the ring. They are who give her the picture and they are who guide her through it...

Exy, I agree completely with this idea! I nfact I've been thinking pretty much the exact same thing for a while now. Another thing to add to this, is that I think the Laura in the painting could actually be in One-Eyed Jacks, is because if you look at what she's wearing, she has the exact same black slip nightdress that we later see Audrey wearing when she is there. I've also toyed with the idea that the Laura in the painting is infact the "real" Laura, and that she's looking back out at herself/the dream Laura who is apparently standing in the doorway. I have, for some time now believed that when Laura wakes up in that sequence she doesn't actually wake up. Maybe she was trapped in One Jacks, that was REALLY her and again she was just dreaming of what it would be like to be out. (Which would mean she was still alive but that's probably another story.) :)
