I am beaming with pride, for some reason. I think, for once, I agree with the critics!
Ganked for my FB page :) Thanks!

I don't know if I could name a personal "best", but MD is one of my favorites, and I'm glad it won if only because it might spur some renewed interest in Lynch, which can only increase the possibility of a new film. (Preferably on actual film stock, and preferably with a story written in advance.) I'm not sure Goddess would work with him anymore, but I bet he could do something amazing with Ronnie Rocket at this stage of his career. Or, y'know, Eraserhead 2.

That's an amazing thing, and makes me feel proud to have been a part of it. It was only my second feature film mix, and we spent an extraordinary amount of time on it. Considering its hybrid genesis - from failed TV Pilot to Feature, this is a remarkable thing. But all along, I thought the cinematography was excellent, Naomi of course SLAYED her parts! ("Hit it right out of the park"). Justin was terrific, and even Billy Ray Cyrus did a great job in his role. Top to bottom, the cast was excellent. And I think Dave's writing was pretty wonderful, I remember the night he got the idea for the ending and resurrected it as a film - he was so excited about it. And Jamie - he was once asked if any further adventures in Eraserhead-land could be made. He said "Impossible - Jack's dead!".

I agree with the poll. Shit that movie was good. I love the L A party scene where Baretta shows up. Perfect party atmosphere and choice of music. Dave killed in the 80s, 90s and even the ooos. Since no one called it--hey raymond-you're talking about Lost Highway man.

John, my projected E2 story involved the baby, healed up, grown up, and ready to KICK! SOME! ASS! Think leather jacket, shades, cyborg parts...
I always get a little extra weepy now in Jack's scene in TP, when he's returning from the hospital and Harry tells him about Catherine. He has to play it serious enough to not be light, but still be authentically Pete with all his odd angles, and it's beautiful. His "Yeah, I figured" is just a perfect expression of the depth he brought in.

"The Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) announced their selections for the best of the 2000s, with “Mulholland Dr.,” from director David Lynch, topping the list. The LAFCA’s choices were announced today by Brent Simon, President of LAFCA. This is the organization’s inaugural survey of the decade in cinema." http://www.indiewire.com/article/2010/01/12/mulholland_tops_la_critics_best_of_2000s/

I'm not up on movies like most here, but I know that there was a film called "The Ring" and other widely distributed pieces of work after MD. All of a sudden instead of Nicole Kidman , it was Naomi Watts for a few years anyway.

Painted Veil was the film I recommended most of 2006. She stole every scene.
There is talk now that she will be in a The Birds remake, presumably reprising Tippi Hedren's role as Melanie Daniels.

I actually think that could be worth doing, unlike most remakes of 'classics'.
Strangely enough, the special effects in The Birds actually still stand up well, but it's the acting and writing that's a little off.

How about Eraserhead 2: Electric Boogaloo? Baby redeems himself through breakdance.
These lists are always odd and painful, but I'm finding myself nodding along with this one more than I would ordinarily. It's nice to see The Royal Tenenbaums, Before Sunset and A History of Violence getting their due, not being dismissed as off-Hollywood nonsense. At the risk of being unpopular, I don't know if I can go along with Mulholland Drive at #1. It might seem petty, but I really can't get over the "blurred cooter". It's such a tragic moment of puritanical folly. It just marrs the text like a big ugly scar. Maybe In the Mood should be #1; a genuinely flawless film? Oh, and The Hurt Locker? Are they fucking nuts?

OMG, SRSLY????? 10 years later, and this still comes up.
I have seen MD on gianormous home theaters and have 20/20 vision, and you have to freeze frame to catch this.
The only people who are going to care are the dudes who make/look at Celebrity Skin, Mr Skin, and Celebrity Movie Archive

+ 1 for Laura Harring and actresses everywhere this round. There should be enough fur on the Internet to spank to that you don't need to find it in serious films. Am I wrong, here? Let's have this discussion ONE MORE TIME!

Yeah, seriously. And no, let's not have the discussion one more time if it's predicated on the assumption that the problem is my rampent vagina-lust.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with rampant vagina lust. It's what makes the world go round.
But really? You could see the blur without pausing it? You must have the flicker-rate vision of a bird dog. I don't know a single person who could. Or was it just the idea of the censorship that grates on you?
The only reason, I believe, that the general public is aware of the edit is because One Guy, and it only takes one, stilled that fraction of a moment to examine it more closely.
Saying it "marrs the text like a big ugly scar" is a little excessive, isn't it? It doesn't change the meaning or even the look of the movie, does it? If every nipple was blurred out, that might be distracting interference enough to complain about, but.... SRSLY?????
