There is a colour film made is the 50s or 60s David Lynch got his ideas from to make Twin Peaks. I can't Remember the name of the film does anybody have any ideas? I saw a clip of it on youtube and from what I remember its a detective or agent like Cooper investing a murder and went into a grave yard and ended up in another place which was the red room.

The namer of the movie is "Kill Baby Kill" from 1966 directed by Mario Bava. The ending is just like the series finale of Twin Peaks where Cooper's doppleganger chases him through the lodge. The plot finds a young doctor summoned to the town to perform an autopsy in the investigation of a girl's mysterious death - sound familiar ?

There is also this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peyton_Place_(film) Lynch and company screened it when writing TP. Its surely the inspiration for the people's sordid lives in TP, though of course not the BOB/MFAP Lodge elements...

I'm not quite sure if I can name a movie that old that reminds me of TP.
However, I know some that are similar to David Lynch in general.
Like Bergman's Persona, which is a surreal picture about dual personalities and sexual identity. Two subjects that are quite common in Lynch's movies, and TP.
