There is a colour film made is the 50s or 60s David Lynch got his ideas from to make Twin Peaks. I can't Remember the name of the film does anybody have any ideas? I saw a clip of it on youtube and from what I remember its a detective or agent like Cooper investing a murder and went into a grave yard and ended up in another place which was the red room.

Kill Baby Kill by Mario Bava.

It has a scene where the main character is chasing himself through the same room over and over again.

This is not really what you described but I think this is the movie Twin Peaks is most often compared to. There is no Red Room but the chasing scene is very much like what happens in the final episode of the series.

There is also a movie called Laura (ironically) from the 40s which has a lot of overlap to the Twin Peaks universe.  There is a character called Waldo Lydecker as well.

Diane... 10:00 a.m. at the Great Northern. I've just been in a hotel room with the One-armed Man... or what's left of him. In another time, another culture, this man would have been a seer, a shaman priest... possibly a leader. In our world, he's a shoe peddler, and lives in the shadows.
