" I know it sounds dirty, but I am only doing what I am suddenly used to doing . . . Creating a show for other people to look at, while inside my head, I go into a dream. A whole audience, at least a hundred people. (I do that because the more people there are, the more it seems like it is okay, and not a hidden or bad thing.) All of the people, men and women, watch me. They watch how I move, how little sounds come out of my mouth when I begin to feel warm inside. . . . I dream of a man or woman, sometimes both . . . and how I see them in the front row, the quietest of all. Let's say it is a man for description's sake.
    So I come down to the level of the audience, and I'm wearing something black and see-through, and I take him by the hand and make him come onto the stage with me. He doesn't want to, but I promise him I won't embarrass or hurt him. He believes me and we go up into the lights.
    I tell everyone in whispers that this man is beautiful to me, and I tell them why. I describe him so that he becomes confident and aroused all at once. The audience loves him now, just like I do. I usually change the dream each time, but it always ends up with me and my chosen partner making love in front of everyone. I get a high sometimes when I think that BOB will see me in this dream and realize he should finally set me free."

Somehow this piece always intrigued and fascinated me... I always wished to see it filmed. It would be a wonderful surreal scene.

Yes it is outstanding and certainly among my favourites from the Diary. I do love the Secret Diary, for me it is almost as important as the FWWM movie... I'd love to give some quotes but I don't have the book in English...

The part you quoted, how old was Laura then? I think it was still at an early stage, before she got really corrupt? Before the "tender boughs of innocence" were burned forever? Those words of hers may seem perverse to someone but I think there is something clean in them... still.

 It's dated December the 21st, 1987. It's almost 1,5 years before her death. She is 15.

She seems to be fantasizing about a situation where sexuality is really arousing but something where no one is getting taken advantage of. No one is being corrupted. No one is getting hurt. There's only encouragements, raising people's self-esteem and having a healthy sexual enjoyment. She hopes she (and other people) could enjoy sex and sexuality without getting hurt.

It's a really beautiful thing. Jennifer Lynch had a fantastic view on healthy and unhealthy sexuality and on the minds of people with high sex drive.

One of my favorite pieces from Laura's diary, would be one of the poems from the book:

My daughter wants to read the Diary... I think she is ready. Though it is a piece of damn powerful material. I'll read it along with her if she decides to start.
