What floats by in Cooper's Dream? |

During episode 2, midway in Cooper's Dream, after Laura has touched her right nostril, but before the LMFAP starts talking, something floats by in the background behind the red curtain. I think it could be Laura's secret diary or even the missing pages, but I'd like to hear other interpretations, if there are some. Strangely enough no one seems to have commented on it before.

vague memory makes me think i thought it was an owl behind the red curtains...but i will check today and get back. good observance...

Sure it was commented many times. But it's true that no interpretation has ever been fully satisfactory - perhaps there is nothing to interpret here, really. A page of the diary. An owl. I prefer diary, it doesn't look like a bird at all to me. Not that it looks much like paper, either ;-)

Laura's lost innocence... it does appear birdlike, but it wings, they no flap (unlike Flappy)...

found information on script notes. in the notes the shadow flying behind the curtain is a bird....no mention of what it's interpreted to be....must be left to us i guess!

A lot of possibilities here: * A bird (an abstraction of Waldo, who knows...)
* A symbolic representation of time passing (note that the shadow coincides with the MFAP rubbing his hands)
* A woman's shoe (kinda has that shape)
* A doppelganger of some unknown thing (the final episode shows the shadow of Cooper's doppelganger before he emerges)
* An artistic flourish added by Lynch
* ...

Nice observation on the doppleganger possibility....i guess if we can't figure it out for sure,it's really not that big of a surprise with Lynch! Anybody have any other "I wonder" thoughts to post???? One of mine is-Why the toothpaste in the final scene???
