Bought Bob Dylan's Blood on the Tracks today, and I'm listening to it right now. Never thought I'd be a Dylan fan, but I'm amassing quite the collection. Then again, my mother tells me I resisted The Beatles for years, and now look at me.

On a related note, I'd love it if they'd finally get around to re-releasing the Travelling Wilburys albums on CD. I've managed to nab a couple tracks off a certain P2P program that shall remain nameless, but they really need the special ed treatment.

AAAAAAAAAMEN!!!

I keep hoping that one day someone will have removed their head from their ass long enough to realize they need to put that shit on CD. My dad and I both would just kill to get our hands on that nonsense. :)

That's too funny!! I had the same reaction when Luis told me Sonic Youth was coming to Chi-town and were playing Daydream Nation..."Dude, I think I need to change my shorts." were my exact words I believe...Amanda, how is Despite Our Differerences? I know it is silly asking how an Indigo Girls CD is because they are usually good, I just wanted another fan's opinion. Which reminds me, they are playing the Ravinia Festival this year (that's very I saw Pat Metheny with Gary Burton last year)so I'll have to look into checking them out, it has  been a while since I have seen them in convert.

Despite our Differences is, as always, another fantastic album from the Indigo Girls. :D They never ever fail to disappoint. I swear to god, it's like they're programmed to be f**king awesome at all times.

The first single, "Little Perennials", has been stuck in my head for weeks and weeks and weeks. I don't know why I took so long to buy the damn album. I'm still kicking myself that I missed them on this go-round. Their tickets sold so fast (sold out within several hours for SF, within a week for Sac, and the 2nd show they added in SF sold out within 2 days) that I honestly didn't even know what was happening. I need to pay closer attention to "coming soon!" concert ticket schedules. Because I also missed tickets to The Shins (three shows in SF next month, all sold out), The Gossip, The Killers, Gotan Project, and Modest Mouse. All sold out for this coming month. *sobs* Indigo Girls does seem to be swinging back my way for two small winery shows, but they're the weekend of my brother's high school graduation. GRRRRRR...

Anyway! Just bought a CD this morning...it's the CD reissue of an LP that was a fave of mine as a child...Chipmunk Punk. :) I mentioned to someone that until I was like 7, I didn't know that "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" wasn't a Chipmunk original song, because this whole album was nothing but current popular songs done by the Chipmunks. Stuff like "My Sharona" and "Call Me"...everyone thought it was so funny, they asked me to bring in the album, but it's so old it would probably just burst into pieces if I tried to play it, so. I checked to see if a CD was available and yes! It was. So. Yeah. :)

We Have The Facts and We're Voting Yes - Death Cab For Cutie

Guero - Beck

Mutations - Beck

Year Zero - Nine Inch Nails

and I'll put this here just beacuse...

(from a bulletin I received on My Space

After a 6 year break from recording, musician/producer Alan Wilder returns with Recoil’s 5th studio album.  Entitled ‘subHuman’, it has been provisionally set for release on July 2nd, 2007.

‘subHuman’ will be available on CD and limited edition gatefold vinyl. A special collector’s DVD package will also be issued to include an enhanced stereo CD, a 5.1 Surround Sound version and an exclusive ambient re-working of the entire album.  The DVD will also include all the Recoil videos to date.

Collaborating with Recoil is Blues-man Joe Richardson, whose evocative vocal style is complimented by accomplished guitar and harmonica performances.  Born in Southern Louisiana, Richardson spent years immersed in the murkier side of New Orleans life and offers a unique commentary on conflict, religion, incarceration and personal struggle.

English singer Carla Trevaskis, a songwriter in her own right, brings an expressive range and control to ‘subHuman’ and has worked with artists as diverse as Fred de Faye (Eurythmics), Cliff Hewitt (Apollo 440) and Dave McDonald (Portishead).

Wilder's skill at blending diverse and eclectic musical styles with often controversial subjects has produced an album of complex sonic imagery and expansive dynamic range.  ‘subHuman’ asks us to reach within ourselves and extract the very essence of what makes us human - and more importantly what allows us to subordinate others, sometimes with the most brutal consequences.

Smokey can't wait for this CD to come out!!

Heh. Wouldn't say I'm "content" really, just obsessive about collecting all the discs. I've been troubled by some of the changes made to the remastered albums...different versions of songs being used or other songs being not included altogether. Also a bit annoyed by not having the SACD option available on domestic versions (not that I currently have the ability to play that layer, but still! A woman should have the option if she so chooses to invest!), and definitely not going to fork out for imports of all of these. And I haven't listened to all the remasters yet but I've heard tale of a couple of the earlier albums not having a quality 5.1 mix, which is just sad since that was the whole point of remastering the damn things in the first place! But whatever. DM is DM and I mostly bought these for the DVDs containing the documentaries. I was so very young when DM first arrived stateside and while I enjoyed their music immensely, I didn't have the full-on DM experience like older folks did, so it's nice to take that look back and go "OMG...DM=sexy!" Keeps me feeling young.

I rarely ever go out and spend money on cd's anymore sicne the music industry really doens;t make much that appeals to me anymore.

I bought Year Zero the day before it's release and I can't stop listening to it.

This makes everything Nine Inch Nails has done in the past sound like someone learning chop sticks. Year Zero the most enthralling album I've listened to since Ok Computer was released.

Go check it out if you want a glimpse of a not too distant future that's more believable than you'd think.

I agree with Reqmeister on Year Zero. I am not sure if I would put it above The Fragile just yet, but it is an exceptional CD that has been played repeatedly since I bought it...a must for NIN fans or anyone who appreciate a well-conceived, produced and performed concept CD...that's too bad about those remasters...sounds like they could have done a better job on some of them. I am wondering what an ambient re-mixing of an entire CD is like when it comes to Alan Wilder's latest, not really interested in the DVD, but I'll buy the complete set once it comes out.

Hoorah! for you...I haven't won anything on the lottery in about 5 years...good choice too

Last one I bought was kd lang, Ingenue. I wanted to put it on my iPod and then realised I only had it on cassette. Oh, the shame...

Feh, of course it comes out a week after my birthday! That's why I asked for money. (also, because I will have a dorm room that will require some supplies)

This is rather late, but a couple weeks ago I bought the Aimee Mann Ultimate Collection. Joygasm.
