This is good. It's a new Al Qaeda video with the young California 'revert' to Islam. His rhetoric starts off like many a college rambling, but then there's a twist. Repent of your misguided ways...
Check it out and compare it to the news accounts of the latest Al Qaeda video. Seymour Hersch, he likes and appeals to his investigative journalistic skills.
Bush, he doesn't seem to care for. "Crusader in Chief." "Join the winning side" (he knows how to distinquish one side from another...)He wants you fence sitters to come on over to "the side of truth."
George Galloway and Robert Fisk he likes.
Daniel Pipes, Steve Emerson, Michael (ex-CIA) Scheuer and Robert Spencer, he doesn't. He sure seemed nervous. Dry mouth. Probably quite an honor to be the main act with someone as important as Al Zawahiri doing the opening act.
Nice invitation, Brother Gadahn, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to decline. I'm busy for however many years I have left in my life. Thank you for the lovely evite and for not holding a gun to my head as you tender your kind offer. Suddenly the cockeyed optimist in me emerges to wonder -- what if the cotton mouth is a result of nervousness over being found out? What if he's an American operative who's penetrated Al Qaeda? Now that would be rich! Susan

Robert Spencer, man of many fatwahs, author of PIG (Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam) has responded to Azzam the American: Thank you for the invitation, Adam, and for your thoughtfulness in extending to me in particular a personal call. But I'm afraid I must decline. While I appreciate that I would be your "brother in Islam" if I became a Muslim and turned my "sword against the enemies" of Allah, I cannot and will not give in to violent intimidation, come what may, and I do not want to live in a society that bows to such intimidation. I believe that societies that respect the equality of rights before the law of all people, including women and religious minorities, as well as the freedom of conscience, are superior to those that do not. I hope that such societies will be able to summon the will to resist you and your "invitation" in all its implications before it is too late. Meanwhile, Adam, I have a preliminary invitation of my own for you: I invite you to accept the Bill of Rights, and enter into the brotherhood of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. My invitation does not focus on my religion, although I invite you to that also, but rather on a framework within which people of differing faiths can live in peace, harmony, and mutual respect -- provided that none of the groups involved cherishes supremacist ambitions to subjugate the others.
Pretty cute! Wonder if Galloway and Fisk will respond?
Susan

Mark Steyn believes the MSM has already turned Muslim, portions : "Did you see that video of the two Fox journalists announcing they'd converted to Islam? The larger problem, it seems to me, is that much of the rest of the Western media have also converted to Islam, and there seems to be no way to get them to convert back to journalism. Consider, for example, the bizarre behavior of Reuters, the once globally respected news agency now reduced to putting out laughably inept terrorist propaganda. A few days ago, it made a big hoo-ha about the Israelis intentionally firing a missile at its press vehicle and wounding its cameraman Fadel Shana. Shana was posed in an artful sprawl in a blood-spattered shirt. But it had ridden up and underneath his undershirt was spotlessly white, like a summer-stock Julius Caesar revealing the boxers under his toga. What's stunning is not that almost all Western media organizations reporting from the Middle East are reliant on local staff overwhelmingly sympathetic to one side in the conflict -- that's been known for some time -- but the amateurish level of fakery that head office is willing to go along with. Down at the other end of the news business, meanwhile, one finds items like this snippet from the Sydney Morning Herald: "A 16-year-old girl was tailed by a car full of men before being dragged inside and assaulted in Sydney's west last night, police say . . . "The three men involved in the attack were described to police as having dark 'mullet-style' haircuts." Three men with "mullet-style" hair, huh? Not much to go on there. Bit of a head scratcher. But, as it turned out, the indefatigable Sydney Morning Herald typist had faithfully copied out every salient detail of the police report except one. Here's the statement the coppers themselves issued: "Police are seeking three men described as being of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance, with dark 'mullet-style' hair cuts."... One can understand the agonies the politically correct multicultural journalist must go through, distressed at the thought that an infelicitous phrasing might perpetuate unfortunate stereotypes of young Muslim males. But, even so, it's quite a leap to omit the most pertinent fact and leave the impression the Sydney constabulary are combing the city for mullets... ...The Fox News conversions. Everyone'll know it's just a sham. But that's not how the al-Jazeera audience sees it. If you're a Muslim, the video is anything but meaningless. Not even the dumbest jihadist believes these infidels are suddenly true believers. Rather, it confirms the central truth Osama and the mullahs have been peddling -- that the West is weak, that there's nothing -- no core, no bedrock -- nothing it's not willing to trade...It doesn't matter how "understandable" Centanni and Wiig's actions are to us, what the target audience understands is quite different: that there is nothing we're willing to die for. And, to the Islamist mind, a society with nothing to die for is already dead." http://www.suntimes.com/output/steyn/cst-edt-steyn03.html

Doubtful after being assaulted by Islamists during his last election campaign.
Nice 'joke' though.

But Mark Steyn is MSM so I certainly won't believe what he has to say. Can you even believe that first line? What if it was Mark Steyn believes the MSM has already turned Black, or Mark Steyn believes the MSM has already turned Jewish? I found the link to that Steyn paragraph on instapundit.com. On instapundit.com I also found: "InstaPundit is not an unbiased news service. It consists entirely of my opinions and such links to factual items as I find interesting. Its whole purpose is as a vehicle for my biases, in fact. It is not unbiased and objective in any fashion, but rather is opinionated and slanted, much like other, more respectable, outlets such as The New York Times and TonyPierce.com."

oh the anger. Sources must be limited to Keith Olberman. And the Chicago Sun Sentinel must be closed down.

No anger, but going forward I will try to stick with Fox News, seems to be a safer bet. And you help make my point Raymond. Olberman and Steyn, 2 opposite sides each with agendas, why not try for something more objective, could both of us make that attempt?

Twice in a matter of moments I'm forced to use the word 'rubbish?' And this, after just citing a long BBC article on another thead. Nice try, Danwhy, but altogether wrongheaded and frankly, a lame attempt to dismiss those you disagree with. I'm actually surprised. Must have been an uneasy summer for you. You return to the political forum with an uncustomary blanket dismissal. It's not like you, really, and I'm wondering if someone else is sitting at your computer writing in your name. Susan

I don't dismiss those who disagree with me and I would sit and have a beer (or coffee) with anyone on this board.

I notice you just took off the "...safer bet with this crowd " blanket hit snark. Charming. And sounds like anger to me.

I sure did take it off, it wasn't proper and I caught it when I went to go back and proof. I try hard not to generalise but sometimes I do, I am not perfect and will admit that, but I do try. Let's honestly not say generalising hasn't happened here Raymond or that you haven't done it yourself so no need to call me "charming" :-)

Good! How about a pitcher of margaritas then? It's been awhile! In addition, I now know my way without getting lost. Susan

What is wrong with an accurate generalization? Is that another new rule -no deductive reasoning? A generalization and an angry snark are not automaticly the same. I get it, you can say whatever rubbish you want. I call it charming--and I'm the bad guy. Why not just prohibit anything you don't agree with?

Nuart, hmm, maybe sometime in the new year. And yes, it was a busy summer and a summer of change for me. I left a job and company I'd been with for 16 years to start a brand new adventure. It's been fun and I feel much less stressed and happier than I have been in a long time (and certainly not angry). When I finally caught up with the political threads here though I will admit I was "shocked and awed" by what I was reading. Maybe that's what's coming accross, not anger but rather "shock and awe", afterall, I'm absorbing 2 or 3 months worth of posts all over one week! I'm sure it will wear off and things will return to normal.
