I was also rather late in seeing it. I first saw it on Apocalypse Now Redux's theatrical release in 2000. It was my second best cinematic experience after Lost Highway. I saw the 1979 version for the first time this week on the Complete Dossier DVD. I'm not convinced the 1979 version was better like some say, and I'd recommend seeing the Redux version first given the chance, Ditte.

I have to say the opposite, the Redxu version absolutley ruined the movie for me. Extra forty minutes of nonsense.

Two student exercises I put up on YouTube. The first was shot in Feburary 2006, as an exercise with the iMovie editing software and shot with your average Panasonic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWQSaRc1US8 The second was in October 2006, was shot on a Sony PD-170 for inclusion in a competition for mock advertisement.
