As much as the either/or game can be pleasing, I would like to start a series of questions concerning ONLY film matters.

There are different possibilities of questions, comparing films, scenes, actors, roles, soundtracks, genres... and many others.

I want to start with this one:

watching the film for the first time in cinema or at home, on DVD  ?

Comedies, usually on DVD...movies by certain director's regardless of cinematic value, in the theatre as well as movies such as Lord of the Rings and V For Vendetta...

Who's worse? Ashley Judd or Julia Roberts?

Jim Carrey, if just for Eternal Sunshine and The Truman Show

Did he just say Julia "I beat out Ellen Burstyn AND Juliette Binoche for the Oscar" Roberts was lovely, surely he wasn't speaking of her acting.

Who does the best American accent (sorry, diverting to television) Hugh Laurie or Rachel Griffiths?

Griffiths.

'Six Feet Under' or 'The Whole Nine Yards'?

Beauty is momentary in the mind -
The fitful tracing of a portal;
But in the flesh it is immortal.
The body dies; the body's beauty lives.
So evenings die, in their green going,
A wave, interminably flowing.
So gardens die, their meek breath scenting
the cowl of winter, done repenting.
So maidens die, to the auroral
Celebration of a maiden's choral.
Susanna's music touched the bawdy strings
Of those white elders; but, escaping,
Left only Death's ironic scraping.
Now in its immortality, it plays
On the clear viol of her memory,
And makes a constant sacrement of praise.

('Peter Quince at the Clavier' by Wallace Stevens)
