This, if it is true, is just sickening! Not quite enough information to convict the 29 year old teacher YET.  I cannot even believe how often school teachers are victimizing their students.  And I don't only mean by not adequately teaching them..

Teacher, 29, Is Charged in Sex Assault

A New Jersey high school teacher accused of infecting a former student with H.I.V. has been charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, prosecutors said yesterday.

The teacher, Hassan Vann, 29, a former music instructor at the West Side High School in Newark, began sexually abusing the boy, who was 14 at the time, in December 2000, the authorities said. The two began to have frequent and unprotected sex at the school and at Mr. Vann’s home, said Paula T. Dow, the Essex County prosecutor.

The student, who is now 20 and has the AIDS virus, notified the authorities about the relationship in May 2005. Ms. Dow said that the abuse began one day at the school when Mr. Vann pushed the student against a wall and forced himself on him.

“Mr. Vann’s alleged conduct involving his former student was vile and has forever changed this young man’s life,” Ms. Dow said.

Mr. Vann, who lives in Irvington, did not respond to a telephone call seeking comment last night. In addition to sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, he was charged with official misconduct and third-degree diseased person committing an act of penetration. He faces more than 30 years in prison if convicted on all counts.

I was never a teacher though, Erwin.  I did tours at the art museum.  Hardly enough time to get too involved with any individual student!

I'm on my husband's computer and it's an unfriendly SOB.  I don't have any of my usual bookmarks so I was simply checking Google News when I happened onto that headline.  Needed a little break from election 2006 total immersion.

It's an interesting story though, don't you think?  Don't forget all the previous stories of pretty young teachers and their 12-13 students?  It's just gross.  I imagine things like this don't happen in the Lowlands.
