I've decided that too few people are familiar with the world of Homestar Runner, and that therefore I should begin to proselytize and bring folks into the fold. So I'm going to start posting little commentaries on the new toons and Strong Bad Emails when they're launched. (If I really get into it, I might also dredge up some old ones from time to time.) Others compelled to compose their own comments should feel welcome to do so below as well. - - - - - I'll start with the first post-midterm email, 4 branches. I've had so much politics-on-the-brain lately that it was nice to have some of that deflated by the social studies/Schoolhouse Rock vibe of this toon. Of my four choices, I'd probably give the edge to The Joint Sub-Committee On So Stupid It's Smart-ities, mostly because of the computery sound in the background when Homestar is reciting Coulomb's Law. All in all, the email was a bit of a grab bag, but it held together. The easter eggs were okay. The highlight for me was probably the capitol building with a talking Homestar head as the dome. Final score: Mongolian beef wig

I had never heard of Homestar Runner before. My life will never be the same. Okay... that's an exaggeration, but it did give me a giggle Thanks for the link.

Let Us Give TANKS!! -- in which the Cheat Commandos pay Blue Laser a Thanksgiving day visit, hijinks ensue, and products are advertised to impressionable young consumers. I'm always happy to see Blue Laser Commander, one of my favorite of the newer characters. He's just so darn obsessed with being intensely evil about everything... That, and he gets the best punchlines in every Cheat Commandos story. ("UNDERSTANDABLE!!!") Reynold's brother's annoying music pretty much encapsulates half of why I can't listen to commercial radio anymore. All in all, not the strongest Commandos piece, or the strongest Thanksgiving piece either, but it definitely had its moments. And Gunhaver actually gets to have a gun. Final Score: Ambrosia salad

Yeah, there are a handful of TP references sprinkled around here and there, and Strong Sad uses the word Lynchian in one scene of an email, in which Strong Bad attempts his sesquicentennieth.

I dang well forgot about this dang ol' thread. I shall continue forthwith. - - - - - Most recent email: unnatural. Bubs has grown very large -- or, has everything except Bubs grown very tiny? -- and opinions are mixed on how to deal with the situation. Tea is served, and DNA evidence is discussed. Strong Sad saves the day, though it's hard to tell how since he totally misdiagnoses the cause. Final score: Fortune cookie Before that: strong badathlon . A number of exciting sporting events from the land of Strong Badia. Homestar beats himself up in Greco-Roman Homestar Crud-Out-Of-Beating and indulges in lukewarm auto-taunting. Tea is served, and DNA evidence is discussed. Diaper theme from "looking old" continued. Once again, we are forced to consider Strong Mad's underwear. Final score: Chocolate cake Before before that: looking old. 'Sup my young parsons? Strong Bad solicits advice on how to reconnect with the iYouth eMarket, and laments affirmative action. Diaper theme introduced. SB finally decides on wrestling-mask lace-tightening, and ends up looking like, well... at least it wasn't Botox. Final score: Kosher tea Before before before that: what I want. SB gets an email from a lost Star Wars character from Iowa, and takes the opportunity to list a bunch of things he definitely does not want for Decemberween. (I personally have received real-world variations on these at points in my life.) No tea, no diapers, but two of those dancing "musical" things. Final score: Hollandaise Even before before before that: the chair. SB is spurred into stool-replacement action and heads over to Bubs' to see what's on offer, including a chair that may or may not be Homestar. His final choice backfires a bit, though it does inspires him to directly address two of his most commonly received questions: does he take his mask off before he goes to bed? and Considering how weirdly dissimilar the three Brothers Strong look, what do their parents look like? Final score: Chick'n beaks
