It's only January, Raymond. Lots of time for the winter to hit Long Island, huh?

Here's a couple of shots -- the tunnels are from the canyon just south of Mulholland a couple miles from the beach. The palm trees are West LA.

Man, those photos are something else. It snowed in South Florida once, like thirty years ago.

Yeah Susan, another two months to go here for winter. This warm, snowless first third has been a nice break.

Edit: Not a day later--a light covering of snow this morning and colder temps forcast for the coming week.

We had a bit this week. The whole town just about shut down. It was pretty icy too. Our snow here in Texas is usually mixed with alot of sleet. There for a little while it was actually just snow.

Thanks,

Mark

We got about another 6 to 8 inches of snow last night on top of the melting 11 in. we got last week.

There is this icicle outside my house that is so big, it's nearly reaching the ground- it is one mammoth of a creature, quite magnificent!

And we're just supposed to take your word for it without any photographic evidence....

Come on now!  Put on your leggings and your ski-caps.  Your mittens and your down jackets and get out there to snap a pic.  Or just shoot it through the window.

We finally got snow.  Probably about 3 inches or so.  It's supposed to snow more tonight.  I guess this is the first time in about 2 years that Central Ohio has seen this much at one time.  i have to say, I am disappointed in the way that snow removal is done here.  They decided to wait until the snow is done to plow which means there is a nice layer of ice under the snow now.  Freakin fantastic.  We will see how it is tomorrow morning on my way to work.  Thank god I have 4 wheel drive.

The mammoth icicle is about 10 feet long!  I took those pictures yesterday and now today, it has totally reached the ground.

I haven't seen anything like it anywhere else in town.  Though in previous years it has grown quite large, this is the biggest it has ever gotten and the first time it has reached the ground, though we always wondered if it would.

Here are some snow pix from the past couple of weeks. Last weekend, Eric took me to the North Shore (Upper Minnesota side of Lake Superior) to Gooseberry Falls--so those are the frozen falls pix. And the second set are from here in Southern Wisconsin after our first measurable snow, where we went to a local park and played disc golf in the snow. :)

No snow, but we had ice for the last two weeks here in beautiful Marin County. They were sanding the roads in rural areas, after people would hit patches and just spin off the road. places that didn't get sun during the day had ice that did not melt as the day warmed up a bit. We were in the 20s some nights.

Alright, Rocky!  Ask and ye shall receive, huh?  Thanks for those fantastic photos!  I know sometimes when it's your day to day scenery, you can lose sight of the magnificance.  Could you walk on that icy river right up to the water fall?

That first photo looks like a shrunken down Snoqualmie falls, doesn't it?

I never heard of disc golf before.

Wonderful photos, Rocky!!!  You look so cute in your snow gear!

You're welcome, Susan! :) Yeah, you can walk out on the river straight to the waterfall. I have pictures of that too.  It was cold cold COLD that day. About 7 with a -14 windchill. But there wasn't really any wind to speak of, and we were bundled up (as you could see) LOL.

Here are a few more...you can see all the footprints from people going up to the falls.

That pic of me is actually the aftermath of me playing with some pine branches so the snow would come off. It was all glittery in the sun. :D I know, I'm a dork. But it was fun!! Here is the before pic...

Here is the first foot of snow we got--we got more, but I haven't gone out to take a recent picture yet. We are supposed to get more tonight through Friday, so that will be a more impressive picture.

This is me on Lake Superior on our way to the Ice Caves. Lots and lots of snow. Thank goodness for YakTraks. You can practically run on the ice in those suckers. Hence...

Here, this is Eric standing on the lake, taking a picture of the rocks beneath the frozen water. There were tons of people just lying on the ice, looking down.  We were so hoping for a fish to swim by...LOL

Fabulous pics, Rocky!!!  Thanks for sharing them.  How thick was that ice?  VERY, I hope!

On the local news this morning they were showing Running Springs -- about an hour and a half from us -- and it was covered in snow.  Still no chains required.  I threatened David that I was going to take Lola the Lab for a drive up there to let her frolic in the snow.  He talked me out of it by saying we should do it during the weekend.  He wonders how she'll react to weather that cold.
