This is the best film I have seen in a long, long time. Great performances, stunning visuals and a mind-bending story. I'm glad Aronofsky didn't waste his time with Batman. Now if he can make another film before 2012...

I'm surprised you feel that way Robertsmith... I agree that it had excellent performances, and was really beautiful and sad in parts (it's worth watching, and is much better than Soderbergh's Solaris)... but I also think it was a total mess of a movie. The constant repetitions of scenes and nonsensical way it was edited were really irritating... rarely has an ending been so unrewarding. Also some sequences were really dumb, like that one near the beginning with Hugh Jackman meditating, and then when his silhouette was in the stars... ugh I can't go on. I liked most of the present day stuff a lot... The rest was kind of interesting for a while but ultimately wasn't really that... er... good. The end felt like he was running out of money and tried to wrap it up real fast... it was only 96 min. but it was padded by repeating scenes from earlier in the movie... I couldn't help but think that several plot points were missing... *minor spoiler* it wasn't even clear what part of the movie was the final chapter of the book that he wrote. All in all an interesting failure. I'm glad I saw it though... the good parts made it worth seeing. I think Aronofsky has great potential, but his films so far seem oddly empty... they're missing something integral that I can't quite name... I suppose he's got plenty of time to improve though. I'd give it 2 1/2 stars out of four.
That god damn trailer's more popular than Uncle's Day in a whorehouse!

*spoiling* I found the "supernova" scene literally breathtaking, that final sequence was so awesome as to pardon any flaws in the previous 90 minutes. It did not totally make sense, but I think the intent was to be ambiguous, which can be mistaken for vague or sloppy, the story is not meant to be puzzled out. I also love the whole Mayan aesthetic (can't wait for Apacolypto), and Rachel Weisz is real purdy. I want to see it again.

It hasn't come out in Italy yet, but I'm appealed by it. Didn't watch Requiem for a dream though... You recommend it?

Requiem for a dream is a must see. the fountain was outstanding as well. I thought it was beatiful, I love movies that explore death and at the same time hope. the relationship between izzy and tom carries this movie, and the search for immortality is done well too. This movie touched me.
