Here's the BBC News about it To be honest, I'm not sure whether I like the name or not. I suppose at the end of the day the title is of little consequence as long as the book itself is a fitting end to the series...
My theory by A. Elk, brackets, Miss, brackets. This theory goes as follows and begins now. All brontosauruses are thin at one end, much much thicker in the middle, and then thin again at the far end. That is my theory, it is mine, and it belongs to me, and I own it, and what it is, too. Ange's Odyssey

Does seems a bit weak and dull at first reading. Surely the "Hallows" isn't "All Hallows Eve"...... DMG

What on earth does "hallows" mean??? I´m sorry, I even looked it up in my Advanced Learners dictionary and it doesn´t explain it. I heard that the Danish translaters are having major problems trying to translate it, because it has several meanings in Danish... so which one to choose? Can someone help me? Ditte

To hallow something -- like hallowed ground -- it to officially consecrate it as being holy, though it can also mean to simply have a very high regard for something due to its extraordinary (usually historical/traditional) significance. My dictionaries don't actually list hallow as a noun, though. I'm guessing that "Deathly Hallows" is intended to refer either to a sacred area (or areas) connected with one or more significant deaths, or to a "hallowing" ritual devoted to death, or maybe both.

Or maybe the title is actually "Deathly Gallows", since Eragon is soo hot right now.

So has anyone else noticed that Eragon seems to be a rip-off of Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series? Done "lite" for kids?
