This film is so damn good, I don't want to say too much about it, but the way the future world is created is so gritty and believable, but in a subtle way. In that way it reminded me of Blade Runner, Brazil or Minority Report. The use of hand-held and long tracking shots is amazing. Definitely one to catch in a theater.

I really enjoyed this film and but I think they could have expanded on the story just a little more, give a little more detail on why the world was the way it was. It's not that bad really, it was fun trying to piece it together on my own, but I still felt the film was too short, but still one of the year's best,

I finally saw it. It was a good film but for me Clive Owen was out of place as a casting choice and also his character is very improbable. How does he end up there? It's not believable, he doesn't fit. And it's a pity because I like him so much as an actor. SPOILERS FOLLOWING The sequence preceeding the ending - the one where everyone stops everything as the new mother holds the baby - was overdone. It would have been better if the woman made it till the boat without less people knowing about it. The rest is awesome. I recognized immediately Cuaron's same shooting style of Y tu Mama También, the setting is great and I would have never expected that Julianne Moore could die in such a terrible and sudden way. The film is very visual, so I had no problems understanding the "feel" of it although it was in the original language. When they talk more, in the first part, I didn't quite get what they were saying even because British for me is way harder to understand. If someone can summarize the basic points, it would be the greatest favor. Note: Julianne Moore's british dialogue was not a good achievement. So asked myself this question: is her character a british woman or is she an American in England.

I finally saw the movie last night and loved it. I thought Clive Owen was great. The shooting style was amazing and it created a good vision of the future. I actually liked that it was such a focused story, and that they didn't mess around with the details of how it happened too much... it's best to leave it to the imagination. It was very tense, you never had time to breathe... I also liked that it wasn't too long. Listing Julianne Moore as a star was a little ridiculous... Although killing one of the "stars" so early was a great move... Second this year only to Inland Empire.
That god damn trailer's more popular than Uncle's Day in a whorehouse!

Something left the movie when she did, which I suppose is appropriate. The hope before that point is of a more heroic type, and after it's more desperate. I'm in the camp who liked Owen. He carried the movie without erupting out of his somber character the way many other actors might have done. The line that sticks with me is (if IMDb has it right): You hear that ringing in your ears? That 'eeeee'? That's your ear cells dying. You'll never be able to hear that frequency again. Enjoy it while you can.

I still don't get that line. Anyway the movie is terrific. And Julianne & Caine's death is so effective. That film is just so close to reality that I think I won't see it again for how depressing it turns out to be.
