JK Rowling confirms the day of release for the last Harry Potter So there we go...I know Amazon uk was already offering to reserve the book before the release date had been confirmed, so you can bet your life the offer will now be popping up all over the place Anyone excited about this at all?

Absolutely!! Thanks for the update, sweetie! :) Doesn't the Order of the Phoenix movie come out in July as well? 17th or something... Man...the final chapter. :( Both exciting and sad.

That's awesome, because once again it's releasing the day I leave for the Festival, and since Amazon religiously delivers the HP books by like 6am the day of release, I'm going to have it in my hot little hands in time for my friend Karlos to read to me while I drive. :D Rock.

We have booked our tickets to see Equus already; having read the play several times it's something I've always wanted to see...especially with Richard Griffiths in it as well. As for the "lengthy" sex scene...pffffft. There could be a slight chance of exaggeration there... Poor Daniel Radcliffe, though. He will curse the day he decided to play Harry Potter, as he was always certain to be typecast forever more. These people complaining that he shouldn't appear naked should remember he's an actor; and to make out to your children that his being naked is a bad thing isn't going to help...they should be more worried about the horse-maiming than the nekkidness!

| "Sex scene"?! There's a lengthy nude scene, but the gist of the play revolves around an inability to have sex, so.... I was nearly cast as Alan myself, when I was 21. A 17-year-old, who looked a lot like me got the role instead. Why? Because he was scrawny (not muscular, like me) & looked more like he was 17. This actor got huge local press (Norfolk, Va.), decided to go try his luck in NYC & came back shortly after. In years after, he reprised this role TWICE, with a friend of mine playing Jill. She had to have psychiatric counselling because of her "exposure issues"? Why?! Why?! WHY do it then?! I think Master Radcliffe will be fine. An opportunity to do a more serious "adult" role. Next stop: gay porn! NOT!! And his suit is NOT BLACK, too!!!

I am so glad you said that. I was looking at those pics (and others) and I was incredibly taken by Mr. Radcliffe. Then I said "That's Harry Potter, shame on you" then I confided in my friend that he was hot and she said "I am so glad you said it first".

Uhm, ignoring the posts regarding Radcliffe... I'm not sure whether I will read the new book. I've grown out of the HP books now but having read all of the others I feel I need to complete the series.

I am taking my daughter and her friend to the movie the 13th to see the Weasley Twins who will be appearing at a local theater. Then on the 20th, a nearby town is having a party in all of the downtown area. We will be going to that and hopefully making it until midnight so we can get the book and go home and read, read, read... I am excited! I didn't care too much for 1/2 blood prince, but I need to know where the kids will end up. I feel like they're good friends!

I am excited as heck to read it, but sad at the same time, ya know? 'Cause then it's all over. I wonder if I'll cry. Probably. Most likely... Yes. Reminds me of something the Doctor said in an earlier episode this season of Doctor Who *WAIT til you read book 7...ohhh, I cried." Hee. Order of the Phoenix looks amazing...will be going the week after the release with my faithful Potter buddy, Laura. She refuses to go opening weekend. LOL

We've booked for a 11.15pm viewing of the new film this Friday. As for the book, we'll be going to the midnight opening of one of our local bookshops to pick up a couple of copies. I wish we had been able to get to the Natural History Museum in London, as JK Rowling will be there doing a reading from the book at midnight, and then signing copies....alas, you have to be invited specially to go and there will only be about 100 people there. BAH!!! :)

Just curious how all of you Harry Potter fans are going to handle the book release this time. Will you buy the book at midnight and read straight through? I'm guessing that by the time most normal people wake up the next morning, the news will be filled with how Harry lived/died/turned into BOB/whatever... Would this make you less likely to buy the book the next day? I had this problem when Twin Peaks episode 14 first aired. I had a game that night and carpooled with a teammate and his girlfriend, after setting the VCR. On the ride home, the radio DJ revealed the killer--no warning or anything. Oh well.

I 'm working an overtime day tomorrow. It was originally scheduled for next week. When I realized that day was the day after the midnight launch, I switched with a friend. From the time I get my hands on that book to the time I close the cover again, nothing is going to bring me into human company, let alone the intertubes.

We're going to a midnight opening next week, buying two copies of the book, and won't have any contact with the outside world (or even each other) until we've read the whole thing. Part of the reason is just desperation to find out what's going to happen, and the other part is because the media will spoil the book for people as soon as they can. I'd rather read it myself than find out from some tabloid.

I totally agree with the last two posts.... not sure how long the new book will take to read, but I'll start at midnight (ok maybe a little after that) and keep reading straight through 'til I get to the end... this time I won't have anything to do that whole day... I can't wait to find out what happens. BTW how did everyone like Half Blood Prince? It was either my favorite or second favorite... the other contender is Goblet of Fire. Dumbledore's my favorite character, and the ending is so sad... I also really like the comedy bits, particularly the parts concerning their love lives... really hilarious. I only wish it had had more memorable Quidditch scenes, since it was the last book to feature Quidditch.
That god damn trailer's more popular than Uncle's Day in a whorehouse!

I'm going to be leaving for the festival that day, so on the drive up I'm going to force my traveling companion to read the book to me. I'm lazy and have Amazon deliver mine, so it arrives at the buttcrack of dawn on the 21st. I'm going to try t be good and not peek at the ending when the book arrives...

I've decided I'm just gonna melt the book down & inject it straight into my veins. Either that or blend it with dragon's blood into a smoothie & just chug the bastard. Orrrrr, if I can work out how to transform it into suppository form...

This is my major malfunction, as they say in the movies. I have this OCD thing where I always turn to the back of a book and read the last sentence. I can't afford to do it this time. All I know is the last word of the book was going to be "scar" for a long while, but when JK Rowling was interviewed on TV the other week she said she has changed that now. I just know I would end up blowing the whole 608 pages for the sake of peeking...

I always read the last paragraph of a book too! Why IS that. My guess, though, is it won't ruin anything. Just something like "and they smiled and said I know"... I ordered my copy from Amazon and my daughter and her friend will get theirs from the bookstore at midnight. I know they won't sleep until it's read. They're so cute!

It turns out we are going to be going out of town this weekend--leaving Friday morning--so I will not be able to get my reserved copy until Sunday night at the earliest, and that's if we get back in time...or---gasp!--MONDAY!! By that point I will steal someone's Firebolt to shave some time and get that book, home, curled up on the bed, glasses perched firmly on the nose, pot o' tea on the bedside table and read until the end. It is times like this where it would rock in insane amounts to be the owner of a TARDIS. I saw Order of the Phoenix last night. Fan-tas-tic.
