(CNN) -- Reality TV star and former model Anna Nicole Smith was pronounced dead Thursday after being taken to a Florida hospital, a law enforcement source told CNN. Smith, 39, collapsed at a south Florida hotel, according to news reports. "I can confirm that she is deceased. It's as shocking to me as to you guys," Smith's attorney, Ronald Rale, told Reuters. "I don't know anything further. [Her lawyer and husband] Howard [K. Stern], obviously, is speechless and grieving." Smith's nurse called Seminole Hard Rock Hotel workers at 1:38 p.m. and security went to the room, hotel officials said. Fire rescue workers from both the Seminole Indian tribe and from Hollywood Fire-Rescue arrived minutes later and Smith was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood at 2:10 p.m. Smith was involved in a paternity suit regarding the parentage of her daughter, Danielynn, as well as other disputes, including some regarding a house she stayed at in the Bahamas around the time she gave birth. Earlier this week, Smith was included in a class-action lawsuit against a company, TrimSpa, for which she had worked as a spokesperson. TrimSpa makes a product it claims leads to substantial weight loss. The lawsuit alleges the marketing of the product, TrimSpa X32, was false or misleading. Smith's son, Daniel Wayne Smith, died at age 20 just days after the birth of Smith's daughter. Pathologist Cyril Wecht said a lethal dose of methadone and antidepressants caused cardiac dysrhythmia, leading to his death.

Beat you to it, but I put mine in the O/T section. It's probably better in this section anyway.

LOL. They aren't saying yet, but I'm thinking it's complications from pneumonia that she had a few weeks ago

CNN (Celebrity News Network?) was already reporting drug overdose when the rest of the interttrucks had barely managed to announce that she was dead. [Correction: I think they were referring to her son's death. I should have checked the article myself first.]
Either way, farewell to the woman who made Jayne Mansfield look like Audrey Hepburn.

A little photo study from the early 90s to early 2007. From beautiful Playmate of the Year and Guess model to boomba and back again. And finally, the life completely zapped from her eyes as she sits with her baby on her lap alongside the reviled Howard K. Stern. Sad story.

methadone. mixed with other kinds of stuff, same as her son died. that's my opinion, that woman had a dang rugged life. I heard this morning before this all happened about the paternity thing, somethings just not right about her hubby there, or lover, he was there when her son died after the birth of her baby girl & now her. I was not a huge fan of nicole smith, just wondering if anyone remember the guess jeans ads she had done , also that supertramp video? what song was that from supertramp with her in it? caught a glimpse off VHS1 a good while back.

I noticed at the delicatessen this morning that one of the N Y tabloids ( I think the Daily News ) had a massive headline: "Was She Murdered?" with a picture of Anna Nicole ! If Anna had been under the weather lately , and she has/had an afinity for drugs, it is possible her weakened system was assisted with drugs to result in her death. Now, who gave her the drugs? ( " Here Anna take a few extra of these to make that cold feel better. " Who gave Anna's son and Anna the methadone? Howard K. Stern had opportunity ( twice) and motive-the Anna Nicole estate. Howard has established himself as Anna's husband !!! Just saying...

don't know what scripts she was taking Reb. Just a thought: Evidently the ceremony Howard and Anna had a while back was not official. They were planning on a fully legal marriage ceremony very soon. Would Howard not wait until that ceremony, if he had bad intend towards Anna ? I mean that new ceremony would cement his claim to her fortune or part of it.

dang! well, I heard a tidbit about that if it is not official then that money could go back to her older hubby's kids from texas here. wow, could happen, & she & his son fought over that for years! forgot his name, how old was he, around 80 yrs. old. did she win that case? or maybe they were talking about what fortune she had.

She lost the battle in one of the appeals court, then she took it all the wy up to the supreme court where it was a unanimous decision for her to be able to sue the family for the fortune. I think she got about half of it, but the family was still going to sue because they don't think she get it.

As far as receiving ANY of that inheritance, I believe it has only been lawyers who have made any money from the death of old Mr. Marshall a dozen years ago. Ah, the wheels of justice turn slowly. Or, how many lawyers does it take to turn a wheel of justice? And who wins? Any time you can rea$onably avoid the "$ervice$" of a lawyer, it is one'$ be$t intere$t to do $o, if you a$k me. Lil timeline of Anna and the unresolved inheritance... June 27, 1994: Marries oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II. She is 26; he is 89.
January 1995: Marshall falls seriously ill, and his son E. Pierce Marshall moves to be appointed his father's legal guardian. Legal fight between Smith and Pierce ensues when he cuts off her spousal support of $50,000 a month.
Aug. 4, 1995: J. Howard Marshall dies of pneumonia at age 90, leaving spousal support fight unresolved.
February 1996: Smith files for bankruptcy in California.
Sept. 27, 2000: A California judge issues a $450 million ruling for Smith against Pierce Marshall, later upped to $474 million.
March 7, 2001: A Houston jury rules that Smith is not entitled to half the estate of her late husband, and that his sole heir is his son.
May 24, 2001: A U.S. district judge in Los Angeles throws out the $474 million judgment previously awarded from the estate of her late husband.
March 2002: The U.S. District Court judge awards Smith $88 million of J. Howard Marshall's oil fortune, concluding that Smith deserves half the investment income Marshall earned during their marriage, plus $44 million in punitive damages resulting from the younger Marshall's attempts to cut her off.
Dec. 30, 2004: A federal appeals court in San Francisco overturns Smith's $88.5 million inheritance award.
Feb. 28, 2006: Attends her hearing before the U.S. Supreme Court.
May 1, 2006: The Supreme Court rules unanimously that Smith can pursue her late husband's fortune, overruling the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals which had ruled that federal courts could not handle Smith's case. And on and on it goes. Now the DNA testing of baby and possible fathers. The question of the legality of the birth certificate. The question over the legality of the marriage between Stern and Smith. Then, if there's any money left with which to litigate, who will be the legal guardian of the little baby girl. And who will legally attend to her fortune should there be anything siphoned down to her at the end of the day. This could be going on for a looooooong time to come.
Whadda mess! Susan

TrimSpa. There was a whole load of people at work yesterday who were forming theories that she died from taking TrimSpa for too long or too much.

I did say it. Hopefully she'll be raised in an environment different than the one that her mother lived in for the past couple of years, and grow up to be a well adjusted individual instead of one immersed in nouveau riche tackiness.

Anna had been feeling bad -under the weather for a week leading up to her death. So, that means her system was not at in a strong state. Now I read in TMZ that the day she died she was fall down drunk from throwing back shots of alcohol . Then they find in her room A sh-t load of Xanax,a tranquilizer, Fentanyl-a strong fast acting narcotic type drug, and Methadone a slower acting strong narcotic !! So, Ok when they started to check her condition out, they found no pills in her stomack-but that means little-pills would be digested in a half hour more or less. She ( to me ) she was obviously mixing strong medicines and OD'ed. IMO. Whose name is on the perscription bottles ? http://www.tmz.com/ ( 2nd article down )

| I get the gist of your fist here, but being a Jayne M. fan, I must cry foul. Ms. Mansfield was bigger than life, but also had talent. If in doubt, check out her recently released DVDs, particularly The Girl Can't Help It, one of my faves (as well as top rated by none other than Chris Isaak & John Waters).

Anna Nicole was the female incarnation of Mike Tyson. Too pretty to go unnoticed even in a small Texan town. He too strong and talented to be overlooked. Each of them had a bare minimum of individuals in their lives they could trust. Neither was mentally equipped for the difficulty of managing their increasingly complex lives filled with leeches, hangers-on and those looking to prosper from proximity to the money making source. Anna, at least, had her son. HAD being the operative word. Tyson had Cus D'Amato until his death in 1985. Anna's mother -- now there's a piece of work -- looks to be an opportunistic slug. If your own mother/father is not your ally -- or non-existent -- then finding someone to trust in the larger universe becomes difficult. Anyway, I find them both sad and tragic figures. Sympathetic too. Susan
