I accidentally discovered that adding files (non-images) with the editor is easier than I thought it would be. So let me explain how you upload images and non-image files.

Here's what you do for non-image files:

  1. Write the word you want to create a link for. Example: I am going to link to a text file so I will write VIEW FILE.
  2. Highlight the word(s), so I will highlight VIEW FILE.
  3. Click the LINK button in the toolbar (the little chain looking thing)
  4. A new window pops up - now click the small image on the right hand side of the first form field (Link URL)
  5. In the UPLOAD FILE section at the top of the File Manager menu, click BROWSE, browse to your file, then click UPLOAD.
  6. Now click the new file you created. The window will close and you will see the LINK URL field now has the link to your file.
  7. Click INSERT and see below.

EXAMPLE - VIEW FILE

Basically if you want to upload an image, it's pretty much the same process.

  1. Click the IMAGE BUTTON (the one with the tree)
  2. Click the File Manager button next to the first Form Field called IMAGE URL
  3. Repeat steps 4-6 above
  4. In some browsers, the Preview function won't work but that's okay. Click INSERT button
  5. The image should appear in your editor.

Safari

and I tried it in IE and the tool bar isn't even there, so I can't even try to insert images that way.
and on a related note, I can't insert smilies either. I click on the one I want, and then nothing. :(

that is probably the problem. Safari doesn't function 100% with this editor. Do you have firefox that you can try it in?

As much as I enjoy my Macs, Safari is still a POS, even at version 2. Just my tuppence.

Make sure you are allow pop-ups for the site. When you click on that image, another window will popup that allows you to upload the file. Works just like when uploading an image.

Hi Jordan,

I get the "File Manager" box and the "Upload File" box to come up OK.
Then, I browse and upload my file. When I click on the new file I have created,
both boxes disappear and I can't get them back unless I open the "File Manager"
box by clicking on the tree again.....

What am I doing wrong? Maybe you can help me. Thanks!

OOPS!

I figured it out! The "File Manager" box disappeared behind my open browser window!
Sorry to bother you.

Thanks Jordan !

But what is " what is the extension of the file? " These are pictures from the net or an e-mail that I have saved to " MY Pictures" on my current IE PC. They come up on the browse feature at the TPG --I upload the image no problem , but when I click on the item to send to the other TPG screen with URL and the little browse box I get that dang message.

So," Extention of the file ? "

By thw way you guys will have a great blessed event soon. All best wishes on the really important stuff.

The extentions he means is .jpg or .gif for example

Right now, those are the only two that we allow on the board. If it is anything other than that, it won't upload.

Raymond - when you click the first upload function, you are clicking the tree icon/image right?

Yes Jordan, little block on first screen from the tree used first.

The images are " JPEG images."

I did upload a picture last year that happened for some reason to be a  " .jpg " file. It worked , so I guess that JPEG is the problem ? Thanks guys.

you'll need a program to resize the image.

you can try the "image manipulation" section of the website to see what it does, but if the miage is large then you might want to resize it using a program on your machine. There should be some free ones out there that you can use.

OK I tried the TPG site features to no avail. I will look for a resizing software tool.  Appreciate the help. Will I be receiving a bill ?
