Here is the link to the winner list. http://us.imdb.com/features/rto/2007/oscars Let's comment now. I'm happy for Marty that he won, but it was too much. I would have preferred if Will Smith or Leonardo Di Caprio were the winners in the best male role, because they are so much younger than Forest Whitaker and they deserved it, especially Will. I did not see neither The Queen or Notes on a scandal yet, so I can't say much about the actress in a leading role category. Between Penelope Cruz and Kate Winslet, I would have chosen Cruz. For what concerns the supporting role category, I would have given the prize to Jackie Earle Haley and Cate Blanchett. I would have rather given the best non-original screenplay prize to Little children or Children of Men instead of The Departed again. They wanted to give every attention to Martin Scorsese this time, and a lot of valuable films were put aside. That's a pity!

I'm kind of baffled that George Lucas of all people was the funniest thing about the ceremony.
Martin Scorsese: 1. Three 6 Mafia: 1.

I was very happy for Martin Scorcese and thought his acceptance speech was subduded for Marty and I loved it that the crowd was on their feet like five seconds after they said his name and the hug between him and Jack backstage...I think Departed should have won best screenplay and I saw both Little Children and Children of Men and probably out of the two I would have picked Little Children mainly because of its humor...And The Departed was the best picture of the year. Period. I would put Babel a close second probably and I would have put either of the "Children" movies as best picture before Little Miss Sunshine. I feel that Djimon Hounsou should have won best supporting actor but I ended up playing it safe on the pool (and won again)...even though Eddie Murphy didn't win but Jennifer Hudson did...I have similar feelings about her speech as Amanda did on the other thread...and the other one I missed was Best Original Screenplay, I picked Babel...I tanked on the tiebreakers this year...I thought Jerry Seinfeld's little bit was funny and I was ultra-pleased that Melissa Etheridge kicked the Dreamgirls collective ass!! It was funny...Mike and I were doing side bets on the animated short and docu short and other awards, I think we did original score...we all got tanked and I have a slight hangover this morning. Other speeches...I really liked Forest Whitaker's speech a lot and think he deserved it, he did an amazing job in Last King of Scotland...we watched The Departed after the awards because some of my guests hadn't seen it and still think Leo should have been nominated for it instead of Blood Diamond...best dressed...Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren and Beyonce...worst dressed...I'll get back to you on that one...

AH, Geez, I just reread what you wrote, Smokey. Scratch my comments if you read them. Here's a little help for you to figure out the worst dressed. Then there's Faye Dunaway. Susan
B Helen Mirren didn't shy away from her sexy side in a champagne-colored Christian Lacroix gown with gold-leaf embroidery on the skirt and a plunging V-neck.
Calling it her "dream dress," Mirren told The Associated Press, "It chose me. It makes me feel comfortable. I don't feel like I'm trying to be something I'm not."
On the San Francisco Chronicle's poll for the best dress, Helen Mirren came in the highest with 33%, Cate Blanchett 24%, Reese Witherspoon 24% and Penelope Cruz with 14%.
Susan PS Found some photos of the truly awful... 1. Faye Dunaway, 2. Elizabeth Shue, 3. Kelly Preston, 4. Sally Kirkland, 5. Gwen Stefani.

First off, I don't believe Forest is that much older than the other two (hell, Gosling's likely the youngest. Give it to him!) . Why not give EVERY award to Abby Breslin? She's what, like 9? Or see if any of the actresses nominated were pregnant onscreen & give awards to their fetuses!!! Actually, LKOS was the only Best Actor flick I saw, but Whitaker's AND Mirren's performances (superlative though they were) are imitations of well-known figures of recent history. Give it to someone who's crafted a fully formed character, why doncha?!

I couldn't believe that Melissa Etheridge won best song. I haven't seen Dreamgirls, but I thought the perfomance by Jennifer Hudson and Beyonce was pretty amazing (and I dislike Beyonce, and despise American Idol). The Academy must just have something against Dreamgirls... I was rooting for Little Miss Sunshine but was happy for the Departed... I haven't seen the Queen but somehow couldn't help thinking Mirren didn't deserve it. I wanted Penelope Cruz to win somehow, even though I didn't really think that she was the best perfomance out of them.
That god damn trailer's more popular than Uncle's Day in a whorehouse!

Thats the stupidest thing I've ever read. Forrest Whitaker deserved that award, and if anyone should have won it over him it should have been Peter O'Toole.
