According to Virgin, anyway.  If you're interested in subways, it's a fun page to visit, even if it's a little light on info.

Some of these look really nice, but I still find subways (for the most part) to be extremely creepy.
Mainly because of stuff like this.
If anything like that would happen in reality, it would happen in a subway.

Yeah, but in Montreal you only see that maybe twice a month or so.  You just get used to it.

It's David Cronenberg's world, Maggie Estep just lives in it.

Doesn't she look almost exactly like JVSCant's avatar girl?

Didja notice that the Grand Finale of that excruciatingly long 3+ minute film is the obligatory vomit scene, Booth?  Heh, heh, and you said you couldn't think of any such scenes.

But subway systems. I'll tell you the one that doesn't qualify -- LA. It goes almost nowhere, was promised by the LA mayor for years and years before the building finally began, tied up traffic for more years, went billions over budget, years over schedule then ended up carting a handful of homeless people from downtown to Hollywood and back several times a day. The new mayor is talking about a crosstown subway -- from Santa Monica (the beach) through Brentwood, Westwood (UCLA), Beverly Hills, and West Hollywood (Gay-Ville) and hooking into the Hollywood line.

This is not a subway kinda place. It's a little too late to begin. LA grew up in the era of the automobile and it was designed as such.  Since the aforementioned parts of town never wanted a freeway intruding into their space, they are stuck with some of the worst traffic jams imaginable. What was once a 10 or 15 minute jaunt on Sunset Blvd from the Beverly Hills Hotel to nearby West Hollywood Laurel Canyon is more like 45 minutes of bumper to bumper gridlock. Locals know the shortcuts but it doesn't matter. They're jammed as well. There truly is no escape.  And don't even ask about PARKING.

Back in the good old days -- after the riots, the fires, the floods and the big earthquake of 1994, scads of Los Angelenos fled. It was heavenly. You could navigate the city the way it was meant to be navigated when LA was a lesser populated burgh in its infancy. But little by little "they" returned. And with "them" they brought their cars. Then even more of "them" came. And here we are today.

In my city, we have problem... and the problem is -- transport!

I must have been distracted by her oozing crotch.
She also has sex with a squid-like monster in the movie.

I do love that movie.  The subways more freak me out because I'm scared of falling asleep and waking up miles off course.  I rode the NYC subway for years though, and aside from a few incidents such as the one mentioned above, it was a good way to travel.

In all honesty, I didn't even know Los Angeles had a subway.

The one here is pretty good, and very cheap. Shuts down before 2am, though, which is occasionally frustrating, and it really only serves the middle third or so of the island.

I'm busy writing 1500 word responses to "What's your favorite ice cream?" here.

Previously, I figured I had two potential readers.  Now that I have four, maybe that'll spur some action out of me.  I respond to embarrassment...

I could post pics of local residential landmarks or something!

Since I can't find the thread, I'm going to state my preference right here - German Chocolate Cake. It's pretty much seasonal though. They don't carry it very often. Once I found a brand outside of Baskin-Robbins with a delish GCC but my market discontinued it. Like they did my favorite yogurt. And my Aussie 3-Minute Miracle Hair Conditioner. (note to self -- good idea for a thread = favorite hair products!) But the best ice cream of all is Vivoli's in Florence. Gelato, as the Italians like to call it. A scoop of pistachio and a scoop of white chocolate -- mmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmm good! I don't think Firenze has a subway and who would take it if they did? You can walk anywhere anyway. Sorbet is no substitution for ice cream. Ridiculous! It's like comparing chocolate with carob. As if. I mean really!

...and his head is soooooo tiny...

That's just everyday stuff in Londinium Town. You always get the folk freakin out, throwing their shopping over themselves, screaming, over-dramatising everything, spitting out milk all over the floor because it might not be organic etc...etc... It's just an everyday occurance with these high flying lawyer types.

On the second day he came
With a single red rose
Said "Will you give me your loss and your sorrow?"
I nodded my head as I lay on the bed
He said, "If I show you the roses will you follow?"

On the third day he took me to the river
He showed me the roses and we kissed
And the last thing I heard was a muttered word
As he stood smiling above me
With a rock in his fist

They call me the wild rose
But my name was Eliza Day
Why they call me it I do not know
For my name was Eliza Day
