Yes! This version of Yer Blues comes from the Rock'n roll Circus and you've not mentioned one veeery respectable gentleman who plays it... Mitch Mitchell on the drums!

QUOTE: "Remember the days of I Wanna Hold Your Man?"

He he he he that's just so much lennon , isn't it?

REBEL, the "woooo" from I Saw Her Standing There is great, it captures all I love in the early Beatles! I mean the explosion of youth and freshness of course

QUOTE:

Watching those Beatles videos that were posted, I'm curious about this one. Is it from the above-mentioned Rock 'n' Roll Circus? Lennon accompanied by Keith Richards and a very young Eric Clapton that I didn't even recognize at first.

The "Real Love" video from the Anthology set very nearly made me tear up.

Yep, that's The Dirty Mac (If you haven't seen R 'n' R Circus, rent it).  There's also a jam bit following Yer Blues (that's Mitch Mitchell on drums) with violinist Ivry Gitlis ,& Yoko in full wail mode. That's my fave Beatles cover involving a Beatle. It was done with very little rehearsal (Wyman was a bit miffed they didn't ask him to play bass). It's also a tad  sadly  ironic ,as it contains the line "feel so suicidal, just like Dylan's Mr. Jones", a reference to Bob's Ballad of A Thin Man, reputedly about Brian Jones, who's a bit of a ghost here. Beggar's Banquet (from this year) was his swan song.  He did play sax on The Beatles You Know My Name, possibly his last recorded performance.

In She's Leaving Home we find at the end that the lass is meeting a man from the motortrade ... I don't understand this part.

Can anyone help me out what that is supposed to mean? Why motortrade?

I assume that means the guy sold or traded cars for a living. Though I may be wrong (it seems like a British term).

A Google search yielded this recruitment website (from the UK, of course): http://www.mtselect.co.uk/

Now you too can be a man from the motor trade!

tjah, I assume so but why make it a specific line?? why stress the fact that it was a man from the motortrade - seems pointless unless there is something special about men from the motortrade.

at first I thought perhaps this had something to do with prostitution but it looks like reading too much into those words, doesn't it?

it was based on a newspaper story Paul McCartney read about a runaway girl on february 27th, 1967.

the London daily mail's headline read: " A - level girl dumps car & vanishes."

that girl was 17 - year old melanie coe, who ran away from home leaving everything behind.

some of the lyrics were things John Lennon's aunt Mimi said to him as a child. she raised John after his parents separated.

Just got a 2002 CD by The Punkles, a sorta Beatles covered by The Ramones outfit from Hamburg.  Interestingly there was a group performing in Seattle about that time called The Speedles, with the exact modus operandi. Coincidence or...?
