Cool links - cheers guys.  I have a private FTP site that I get most gear from, but the download quotas over here are a mongrel - only 60Gb a month.

Original Battlestar Galactica - in between the bad hairstyles and dodgy special effects, there was something magic about that show...

How could you download more than 60 Gb's a month!!??

This month I downloaded all 5 series of Futurama and that was only 13Gb.

He could be downloading ripped DVDs, which are abotu 4.5 gigs per disc, OR 9 gigs per disc, depending on the format of the disc.  That would surely get him up to the 60 gigs limit quickly.

How's the quality? 13Gb sounds pretty small.

It's okay.  I have to admit that I'm not one of those people who can discern subtle differences in either video or audio quality that other people often pick up on.

BTW, this is an off-topic and random advertisement, but if some of you people like to bittorrent, there is a 3-part BBC documentary series which just finished airing here called, 'The Trap: What Happened to Our Dream of Freedom?' which I just really, really connected with.  I noticed that it seems to have a decent amount of interest on the file-sharing websites.  Worth a look, IMO.

Thanks for the tip - will have to check that out.

Yep the quota goes basically due to quality.  Whole TV series quickly chew up quota, not to mention the constant stream of new movies.

I download probably 3 times what I have the time to watch, so probably overdoing it a bit...

My code of ethics is - if it's something I would buy myself, or watch more than once, then I buy it.  If it's something I would never buy, then download it.  That way no-one's losing out on my money...

I got excited for a second that I would get to catch up on House, but it's still a groovy site that will look into when I have more time.

Thanks to this website I have become acquainted with QI, which I am sure is one of the best (quiz/panel) shows ever.
