Chase has fled to France -indefinitely?

David Chase speaks!

What do you do when your TV world ends? You go to dinner, then keep quiet. Sunday night, "Sopranos" creator David Chase took his wife out for dinner in France, where he's fled to avoid "all the Monday morning quarterbacking" about the show's finale. After this exclusive interview, agreed to well before the season began, he intends to go into radio silence, letting the work -- especially the controversial final scene -- speak for itself.

"I have no interest in explaining, defending, reinterpreting, or adding to what is there," he says of the final scene. ...

He may be musing about being an auteur in France, knowing he has left some water in the well for a mini series or a Sopranos movie. I wonder if his DVD sales will be adversely impacted by his non ending? I won't be paying $ 150 US for the series now. That's just me.

I'd drink David Chase's bath water.  Since I already have all the previous seasons, it only means a shelling out of whaddever for Season 6B.  But I am not keen on watching a Sopranos movie.  Don't think it will happen either.

Yeah, figure of speech most definitely!  It's just that there are so few contemporary writers thinkers or minds that I admire any more.  My pedestal is not crowded with luminaries.  Chase and Dylan are up there together.

Sadly, I am behind on my Sopranos, having only watched the first four seasons, although I do really like the show. Anyway, I came across this on my home page after returning home from work last night and thought you folks might find it at least mildly interesting...

Yes, that blackout may well be the demise of Tony. Did Tony get a glimps of Meadow or did her parking skills postpone and preclude that ?

How's this for a closing scene:   Tony trudges out to get the mornin' paper (yes, in his bathrobe), opens it to the headline: Duck Season Opens Today.  OS we hear loud quacking from the pool. Tony chuckle/grumbles & heads back to the house to retrieve his shotgun, returning seconds later, dressed very much as a huntin' style Elmer Fudd. He's interrupted midway to the pool by the postman, who hands "T" the daily mail.  He sees an envelope from Dr. Melfi & HAS to open it. His eyes widen & he clutches his right shoulder, collapsing from a massive coronary. We see the shocking communique: Mr. Soprano's bill for 6 years of pyschiatric counselling.  OS we hear a mad quacking growing increasingly louder.  A bunch/herd/school/whatever  of blood red water fowl enters the shot & proceed to attack & strip the meat from the late Mr. Soprano's bones. No one notices... Roy Orbison croons "It's Over" while the closing credits roll....
