A week before the TP Season 2 box came out, the first season of Norman Lear's classic soap spoof Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman was released. I doubt that many of our younger members would be familiar with this dark-humored daytime serial, but this subversive series would have to be considered a TP influence.  It was broadcast when I was in college (late'70s) & we'd sometimes skip class to watch it.  Take a chance. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I remember making sure I caught every episode of Mary Hartman Hary Hartman I possibly could when it first aired ('76?), although in the Chicago area it aired at night (10:00 pm if I remember correctly).  I saw that the 1st season had been released on DVD, but haven't bought it yet (I've given Twin Peaks S2 priority).  I wish Fernwood 2-Night would get released on DVD....

I LOVED Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman!  We lived for it!!!  This was pre-baby days.  One of our favorite couples was as taken by MHMH as we were and trained their parrot to say the title.  Which he did often and loudly.  Wherever we were, come 11:00 we'd have to reach a television set for that half hour of weeknight tv.

I didn't know it was out but I will be interested to see how it holds up.  Splendid cast!

Wonder whatever happened to Woody Allen's old gal pal, Louise Lasser.  I seem to remember mental health issues pushed her out of the limelight around that time.  Fernwood Tonight was a lot of fun too!
