I always find the Audrey Miracle Gro hilarious when going from the pilot to episode one...Donna I do notice but not as much since although her hair gets longer it didn't grow as fast as Audrey. Audrey's hair turned long overnight. Reminds me of Leland. I almost spit coffee on my monitor every time I saw WIG in big white letter. Thanks, Charles, that was hilarious!!

Praise be! A new page which hasn't been stretched to ridiculous width....

Laura's hair in FWWM only really bothers me in the "dream" scene where she enters the painting. As others have said, I don't find it as distracting as the wildly varying lengths of Audrey's hair over the course of the series!

Has he taken his eyes off it yet?

I'm glad to assist –I've got to admit, I've been spitting coffee everywhere ever since this post began! It's so nice to hear that other people find the whole wig thing (and hair issues in general) as frightening, funny, and ridiculous as I have over these many years. Okay, here's one more for you: I could barely finish this one it makes me laugh so hard!

It is indeed a wig –or a hairpiece, rather...not in the show, but in the film. Shortly before filming FWWM Sheryl Lee had cut her hair short, so they had to fashion a hairpiece for her to wear. Sheryl Lee IS lovely, I can't agree with you more. I'm not complaining about her, it's the WIG! Here's a screen capture from FWWM whre it looks as if the hair piece is in danger of falling off.

That shot is just UNBELIEVEABLE!! No one can argue that there B no rug! I have to get my capturing card into action, its really decent of u guys to post these things up for us.

Cheers

Chris

Denise, I would assume you're no longer interested in girls.

Coop, I may be wearing a dress, but I still pull my panties on one leg at a time, if you know what I mean.

Not really.

I have to say that I actually liked the wig... I like that big hair look. I also liked Donna and Audrey's hair better when it was longer... though the hair differences are pretty shocking at first. I can definitely see how it bugs some people though.

That god damn trailer's more popular than Uncle's Day in a whorehouse!

I'm right there with you. I'm terribly guilty of wearing big, long falls and clip on extensions over my chin length hair. I'm surprised at the number of people who think they're real. Big hair is a sign of physical health and that's some kind of sexual signal to the opposite sex, like a peacock's plumage. Who gives a hell if it's not in fashion? Work that wig, Sheryl!

Clearly none of you have long blond haired sisters. My sisters hair can look flat some days, and other days it's RIDICULOUS how big it looks. And THAT is the discussion I had with Geoffr111 years ago.

Charles, where are you finding this info about when Lee is where a wig and when she is not wearing one? You have even contradicted your self by saying Maddy was wearing a wig and then later saying "oh, it was only a wig in the second season."

My sisters hair could easily look like some of these photos, and you're saying "here is the wig part" and I'm saying my sisters hair could look exactly like that, prove to me that it's a wig.

Pictures of my sister and her hair to follow (or which I can clearly see you saying "it's a wig").

LOL...if you don't think that's a wig in FWWM, you're nuts.  Also in the final episode when Laura appears in the Black Lodge - different, bangier wig, but again, so obviously a wig that she puts drag queens to shame.

I asked Sandy Kinder (tactfully, I think) if that was her real hair in FWWM.  She said that it was.

If Sheryl filmed Backbeat before FWWM, then she would've needed wiggage. Astrid Kirchher had a serious short BOB (killer though it was)...   And what is this "thing" Lynch supposedly has for wigs?  It's an actor's tool. Deal with it!

Jlyon1515,

I didn't "find" the info about the phony hair –I just guessed because it's obvious. But just to make sure, I wrote to Brent, the hair stylist who worked on Sheryl for FWWM. He promptly confirmed my suspicion. Yes, Sheryl wore a hairpiece.

I had posted our email correspondence here before (my ego couldn't resist showing off the proof), but decided to remove it because upon reflection, I feel pretty bad that I've been making fun of the wig...I mean, it IS funny, but they probably worked incredibly hard on it, and for loooong days of shooting –Plus, Brent was so nice to get back to me with a definitive answer.

My proof that someone can have ridiculous hair and have it NOT be a wig. I present to you my sisters 8th, 9th, 10th, and 12 grad pictures.  Each from about October of the years 85, 86, 87, and 89.  In some it's flatter than others.  It's ridiculously poofy too.  SO, I wonder how many people look at her and wonder if she's wearing a wig.

just gotta say it depends on the weather too. when it is humid, my hair gets frizzy, thick. when on a perfect dry day, it's flat. just wondered about wigs on any kind of weather,  never wore one.

Oops! yes I did, Halloween, but it was straight.

Looks like I silenced the room with those pics of my sister.  Does everyone agree now that sometimes even real hair can look like different wigs? :)

Dude, what happened in the eighties, stays in the eighties.  Especially when it's related to hair.  Don't make me drag an old photo album over to a scanner to make my point...

Ahh, if only annoying cliches like "dude" could be banished to the Me Decade (that was the '80s, right?). Seriously, my 'do looked pretty sweet  two decades back, so your threats are hollow ones in my direction.  Scan away, "dude"... (or perhaps you'd like to "mullet" over...)

Well naturally my hair is huge, much more width than that. However, if the fact remains that Sheryl Lee wore a hairpiece then she certainly did.

Plus whoever said that it would have been creepy if they included mention that Maddy was wearing Laura's clothing... where's the problem? That's would set up something that was almost established in FWWM.

Sheryl looks hot (to me) in FWWM, wig (or extensions?) and all.... I just figured Laura went to the hairdresser between the pix and videos we see in the series and her "last seven days". Audrey's and Donna's growth is much weirder, I think. But you have to consider that, during the original network run, most people were seeing the episodes at least a week apart, or even a few weeks apart during the second season, so it probably wasn't as distracting.

The question is, Where have you gone?

Yeah, the wig/extensions were a bit of a fly in the ointment for me too..I'm suprised Sheryl had her cut knowing that she was gonna be playing Laura again...I think her hair looks best in the picnic vid incidentally

It would have been creepy for Laura's parents.  It would have stretched the believability of the show, in my opinion.  Who goes to a teenager's funeral and starts wearing the deceased's clothes right away, under the noses of the grieving parents?

I think Laura is much more sweet with the hair in the series. I understand that Sheryl cut her hair before FWWM and she had to wear a wig, but I don't like her hair-style. They could choose a wig that look like her real hair. I like her only in the scene with Ronette and Teressa Banks where she have the same charm like in the series. I think that the hair-style of the wig take away some of Laura's sweetness.

Faster and faster. For a long time you wouldn't feel anything. Than you would burst in the fair... forever. And the angels wouldn't help you. Because they've all gone away...
