Allegedly, it's a sensitive look at  um... a misunderstood subculture. Looks very Brokeback Mountain, only you only need one guy (if you know what I mean.)

I thought this would be of interest less because of it's content and more because it was filimed in the Twin Peaks region.

I'd be interested in seeing the people who'd pay to see a Zoo/Vase de noces double feature.
Or maybe not.

Vase de noces sounds like a movie i could have nightmares about.  How on earth does a sow, or any farm animal, kill itself?

Zoo was directed by Rob Devor, former roommate of my friend Matt Levinthal, who also worked on it's crew.  Matt may be familiar to some of you as the director of my TP mini-mockumentary, Flappy: Behind The Music in The Air. Zoo's editor, Joe Shapiro performed an invaluable job, helping Matt edit Flappy.  Devor's previous shot in Seattle film Police Beat was also edited by Joe & features lots of my friends in small roles.  Don't know much about Zoo, but it did play at Sundance. Devor's hard to find, but excellent first feature: The Woman Chaser, stars Patrick Warburton.(  And the rumors that I was the horse's stand-in are completely untrue,  yet persistent)

Saw Zoo last night. Very nice.  The whole "incident" is never actually shown (people watch a film of it). Sorry if that's a SPOILER, but if you go expecting something hardcore, you're likely to be disappointed.   The "victim" Mr. Hands (his alias) is played by my old friend John Paulsen, star of my strip club love story play Happy Hour, which also featured Ben DiGregorio, who you may recall as the football coach, in the TP pilot opening minutes. Another lead actor (H) is Russell Hodgkinson, my Chew Pool pal (he gives me the Fart Contest medal).  Joe did another great editing job.  Very artsy, not an exploitation film at all.

Wow, love story between a man and a horse... Very melodrama!

Related but not, but kind of...a "friend" of mine sent me the link to this video the other day.  I'm sure it's a set-up; that's what I keep telling myself anyway.  I'm veering between sporking my eyes out, or just bleaching my brain.

My theory by A. Elk, brackets, Miss, brackets. This theory goes as follows and begins now. All brontosauruses are thin at one end, much much thicker in the middle, and then thin again at the far end. That is my theory, it is mine, and it belongs to me, and I own it, and what it is, too.

The latest issue of Bizarre has a big article on Zoo. However, they misidentify Russell Hodgkinson  as Mr. Hands, when it was John Paulsen.  I've worked with both actors. Anyway, my Flappy director Matt Levinthal was location scout on Zoo, much of which was filmed in the N. Bend/Snoqualmie area. Hardly anything was shot in Enumclaw. Apparently the town was mounting a major campaign to be considered THE equestrian center of WA. state.  This little embarassment put a slight crimp in those plans. WHOA!!!

Just saw my old friend John Paulsen (star of Zoo), while working here, at Sea-Tac Airport. He's working in a film now called Visioneers.  Had a good time at Sundance & Cannes & was very proud of the "soundbite" he'd come up with, describing his role as Mr. Hands as his "15 inches of fame".  Good one, Johnny...

Hey, Chris-

Robinson Devor also directed this great flick called The Woman Chaser that doesn't seem to be available for purchase or rent anywhere.  Any idea how I could score a copy?

So who should play Bodil Joensen if they make a movie based on her?
Renee Zellweger?

But then the movie wouldn't be about bestiality any more. *rimshot*

I'm also a fan of that "lost" gem. I'll see if Matt can get me a copy!

Scarecrow has a copy of Woman Chaser on VHS. It likely was never released on DVD.

Just finished Zoo.  Boy, was that creepy. Guilt, shame, lovely views of Seattle.  Some of the re-enactments were a little cheesy.

All in all, it couldn't explains how people who claim to "love" animals believe that it's healthy for their pets to be made into sex slaves.  No info that couldn't be found in articles, aside from some lurid details.  Ew.

EDIT: but the restaurant where you can have sex with your food before you eat it is WORSE http://inventorspot.com/articles/new_bestiality_restaurant_caters_6934
