http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6731143.stm Anybody else think this is a disgrace? Medical condition my ass. I don't agree with this time off for good behaviour nonsense either. Well, unless it works both ways in that you get time added on for bad behaviour. It seems in this case Miss Hilton got treated lightly by the system simply because she's a rich girl and that stinks IMO. Especially for a crime like DUI.

It's Hell-A, did you really expect anything else? I agree, DUI is a despicable and dangerous crime and people should do the time, but in celeb land this is simply the norm. It's amazing she even got any jail time, maybe OJ will come and visit her!

I agree that Paris should serve her sentence and not from her comfy multi million dollar house. I do however, have just a hair ( that's a term David Lynch likes to use ) just a hair of sympathy for her. When that cold steel door slams locked and you have a tiny cement cubicle equipt with a hard bunk and a blanket - period, knowing you are not getting out any time soon, it is no fun, that is for sure. It makes little matter if the jail is in Georgia, New York, or the progressive state of Washington. I felt anger and rage accompanied with off color comments for my jailers, followed by a 'hair' of claustrophobia and then the realization that this is your world. Yes " the slammer' is a good name for the places. That door just doesn't open regardless of how loud and long you protest.

Paris has, I am sure much of it is for the eyes of the court and the cameras, but she has been carrying and perhaps reading a book on Buddism, a Bible, taking bulking up workouts with a trainer and she had the guts to go out on the eve of her incarceration to an MTV event. Those acts seem positive to me and I think she will be OK. Yes, it is unscripted for me to be showing empathy for a spoiled, party girl, but hey, you never know for sure how someone will react to a situation. Incidently, I wouldn't worry about Paris getting a rash while in jail - the other inmates better keep their distance in case she forgets to take her Valtrex !

I officially support Paris Hilton now, because her misery is being exploited for show, and I always take that side over the exploiters.

I think it's great she is back in jail as I genuinely believe this will deter her from ever doing another DUI, a hard lesson but an important one. I also have mixed feeling though as she should not have to be exploited by the media in the way that she is, but then I stop and think about how much she exploits the media to get what she wants, and there is some sort of "live by the sword, die by the sword" karma going on. So I'm mixed on how much sympathy I have but do wish today could have been much less of a zoo for her.

Why should anyone have any sympathy for her? This is a PR goldmine and she will milk it for every last drop.

I don't have one scrap of sympathy for this woman. She knew she was driving without a licence and thus knew she was breaking the law. She had already been caught driving under the influence, amongst other things, and not treated as harshly as she should have been for her previous offences. That strikes me as someone who is arrogant enough to think she can get away with driving without a licence. Then she seems to think she should have her jail term halved because it's "unfair". Quite frankly if she hadn't been who she is, and just Josephine Public, there is no way that jail term would have been reduced in the first place. 45 days is not a lifetime and she needs to just get to grips with doing her time and then ensuring she isn't so stupid in the future to find herself in the same position. As for her misery being exploited, she is choosing to make a show of herself by screaming and crying in public. She's blowing it out of proportion; if she had a terminal illness, or had just lost a member of her family and was behaving the same way, then I might feel some sympathy for her misery being taken advantage of. But right now I wouldn't care if they locked her up and conveniently forgot the key. When she contributes something useful to society, I might change my opinion of her.
My theory by A. Elk, brackets, Miss, brackets. This theory goes as follows and begins now. All brontosauruses are thin at one end, much much thicker in the middle, and then thin again at the far end. That is my theory, it is mine, and it belongs to me, and I own it, and what it is, too. Ange's Odyssey

This Sheriff Baca has taken more in presents than all california sheriffs combined ! Paris's grandpa gave him a thousand -the limit- for his election campaign. The judge sets the sentence -not the sheriff. Baca has a history of covering up for celebrities. Example Mel Gibson. Baca had the anti semite rant of Gibson's expunged from the official record. And it is not an isolated case -he gives special treatment to celebs as a matter of course. This bum should, and may be investigated for his unequal administration of justice. You could put this sc-mbag in jail for a few years and it would be fine by me. This bum is far worse than Paris-who is a danger on the roads for sure. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070609/ap_en_ce/paris_hilton_sheriff;_ylt=AtZxkuNXH3Y.nQ1HhOh66ERxFb8C

I refuse to engage. I just can't. Love gossip and celebrity shenanigans as much as the next guy/gal. Possibly even more. But the vacuous downfall of the vacuous is ... unworthy. And the media trumpeting. The pap's clogging up the canyon streets. The embarrassment that is the LA Sheriff's department. The outrage to come over the rich/poor/white/black discrepancies. The shouting back and forth. YECH. Drunk drivers should not only have their cars and licenses removed. They should have to wear the type of ankle band that prohibits their feet from controlling accelators. FEH. Susan

The story so far : - Features as the main star in a sex tape that gets released all over the internet showcasing Mizz Hilton in various unsexy poses & answering her mobile phone during what could loosely be described as sex. - Caught DUI by the cops and banned from driving. - Flouts the law by getting in her car and driving whilst disqualified. Caught again. - Gets sentenced to a silly little stint of 23 days in jail, segregated from the main prison population. Gurns and yaps the whole way through it and manages to cry so much they let her out after a couple of days on 'medical reasons' - Judge decides that this is a load of bollocks and throws her back in kicking and screaming. Her parents must be so proud.

Can't stress cause a herpes outbreak? With this kind of situation I can easily picture the ending of Akira taking place.

Oh come on Susan, join in the important discussion. You know we ( the collective Western we ) find escape and a safe avenue to discuss the vacuous. Especially white women of means and fame or infamy are prime grist for the public mill. This interest, I'll stop short of fascination, provides a safe outlet verses serious, often gloomy, life threatening news and even worse pundit interpretation of that news that tells us what we have read - a great service by these 'reporters' masquerading as scientific experts: meteorologists, medical doctors, and that fuzzy group of 'social scientists'. Thanks for the help rendered to us cognitively impaired, but no thanks. Princess Diane is the same phenomenon as Anna Nicole and Paris-it is the same gossipy outlet focused on white women of means. Let's hope that suspect sheriff's department has the brains to supervise Paris's intake of Valtrex. That is her unmentionable "medical problem" IMO.

Yeah, I know what you're saying, Raymond, but it's been awfully hard for me to conjure up any interest on this one. I'll have to dig up my old diaries someday because I do believe I went out with Paris's daddy. Once. It was a Hilton son. Seems to me it was Rick though I don't even know if there are other brothers. He was a dickhead. So it was one time. Never thought about it again until I heard about Paris and Nicky. Nicky who??? Susan PS just checked the family tree on Wikipedia and see that it was more like William Barron Hilton Jr. that I went out with. Once. Rick Hilton was born in Los Angeles, California, the sixth of eight children of Barron Hilton (who was born to Hilton Hotel founder Conrad Hilton) and Marilyn June Hawley. His brothers and sisters are William Barron Hilton, Jr. (born 1948); Hawley Anne Hilton (born 1949); Stephen Michael Hilton (born 1950); David Alan Hilton (born 1952); Sharon Constance Hilton (born 1953); Daniel Kevin Hilton (born 1962); and Ronald Jeffrey Hilton (born 1963).[1] The fortune of their father, Barron Hilton, is currently valued at $1.0 billion. Paris Hilton? Oh, yes, that lovely little boat shaped hotel at C. De Gaulle airport outside of Paris... Indeed, I always get a good night's rest sleeping with... er... at the Paris Hilton. Yes, indeed. Go away, kid, ya bother me...
