hmmm... I actually liked most of what you mentioned. But I also love the scene after the deerslayer - when Alvin is shot on his vehicle and the deers antlers are just right above hi, as if he was wearing them :) And I don't know how it is with you, guys, but I felt some strong connection to Easy Rider - you know, the alternating scenes of nightcamps and the road. I suppose there are lots of road movies made, but this one just brought ER to my mind.

1. The ending - touching periods of silence between two brothers with many scars 2. Alvin roasting wieners and talking about bundles of sticks with the pregnant girl 3. WWII veteran talk at bar. Love the emotions they show with only their eyes. 4. Alvin watching the thunderstorm at home smoking a Swisher Sweet 5. "What flavor?" Flavor of beer - WTF!?!? Love this line when Alvin has a long overdue beer. Although this film is enjoyable in its utter purity, I prefer Lynch when he explores the darkness on a small scale.
"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just let it happen. Could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot, black coffee. Like this." -Dale Cooper
