Great subject, Rebel! Our neighbors are the largest part of the reason I like living here. We live on a "Not a Through Street." There must be about 40 homes from our house to the first cross street. We know almost all the neighbors from walking the dog so frequently.

My neighbors include a professional gambler, an emergency room doctor, a retired judge and retired political science professor who live together as woman and woman, a comedy agent, a prison designer (a woman), a reality show TV writer and his music supervisor wife who's done all of Tarantino's films, a cartoon voiceover artist (she always makes Lola crazy with her high-pitched squeals), a couple who both work on the Simpsons -- one as an artist, one as a producer, an LA Unified school district union leader and his lawyer wife, a shoe manufacturer, travel agent, a drummer in a rock band, an HBO executive, a contractor (another female in a mostly male biz) who's married to a podiatrist, a nephrologist, and a new neighbor who may or may not be involved in Nigerian email scams.  But that's just speculation.  He and his wife haven't actually moved into the area as they are still building a house.  And of course, one of my favorite neighbors is the grandson of the creator of Tarzan for whom our little burg is named.

It's as friendly a place as the one I recall from growing up in Cleveland in the 50s where neighbors would celebrate holidays together, babysit for one another's kids and help with household do-it-yourself projects.

Saturday night we went out to dinner with a couple who live close by.  Last night a different neighbor came over for BBQ. On any given day, I might just pop over to the "girls" next door's house with my dog and chat while Lola plays with Max, Cookie and Daisy, their dogs. Another neighbor we've known for 30 years and we are close friends.

Part of me would like to move but the neighbors have been so great that I would be afraid of not having this experience in another place. There is only one house whose owners I do not know. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen them. There are two or three black Lincolns parked in the driveway most of the time. Their house would not be described as having "pride of ownership" nor "curb appeal." We always joke that they must be in the witness protection program.

I love my neighbors!

I have a single Italian grandmother living one side - behind her house is a string of houses for her children (they gave each of their kids and grandkids a block of land)...so it's son-daughter-son-daughter etc...

On the other side we have a Romanian family.  They're a fairly big family, and very friendly.  We go to each others family lunches and dinners from time to time.

Only 2 other houses on our street - 1 house of Aussies who have teenage kids, and they're ok.  The other family tend to keep to themselves the most - I think they're Polish, but very friendly whenever I have a chat with them.

Behind us I have a neighbour who reminds me of the guy on that Tim Allen show.  He's always got his head over the fence while we chat about footy, rugby etc.  He's a good bloke.

So really happy with the neighbours on our cul-de-sac.

I want to call my neighbor Lydia, because of her tattoes, but she has a beautiful smile and seems very sweet. Her name is Laura. I think she has a significant other that spends a great deal of time there, however, I don't think he lives there because she's the only name on the mailbox unless she's harboring a fugitive or something like that. I make a point of dropping her mail in front of her door if it's out of the box when I go downstairs to retrieve mine.

There a new dude in the apartment below me I haven't met formally yet.

Then. there is the lady with the "Blair Witch Kids" outsode her door. She lives nect to the new dude below me. You might recall me mentioning them the first time I saw them outside her door. I forget get they are there, so when someone who has been to my flat comes by or whatever I always get a giggle out of their reaction. Otherwise, she a pleasant enough woman although we don't talk much.

I talk to some of my neighbors on my side of the block from time to time if I see them out. There are some young folks that live in the house next door and they are all groovy cats.I had a nice chat with the dude that lives there when I was waiting for my friend Lisa when we went to the Indigo Girls concert.

I was sooo angry. just removed it. didn't call the parents. it's gettin a bit outta hand. my question is should I call his parents? I let him go more that 3 times this year. it's gettin to where I need to call them up I.M.O.  he's only 12 yrs. old.

Been having neighbor problems. They like to smoke (tobacco and pot) and it comes in through our fireplace and our screen door in heavy clouds. They also are fond of cooking something... horrible that I can't even identify that permeates my whole apartment for hours.  Pig intestines, maybe?  Got some ionic breeze-type machines, but this assault on the nose is so much worse than loud music.

Within the last six months, both the husband and wife who lived next door passed away. The husband went first just before Christmas and the wife went about two months ago. They were very old and she had been in very poor health for a long time, and he wasn't doing to well either but he took care of her all by himself every single day. They have an adopted daughter who lives in town and never came over much and an adopted son who lives in Oklahoma.

So anyway, the husband kicks it, and suddenly this flock of Oklahoma relatives descends on the house. And I shit you not, from about mid-December through mid-April, every damn night was a party over there. They were playing music and drinking beer and smoking all kinds of fun things (they even smoked meat...in a smoker, obviously). It's like they were just biding time until the wife kicked it so they could...well, apparently so they could turn the damn house into a GROW HOUSE. They think they're being sneaky but it's pretty damn obvious (they thought they were being sly by having all of their grow lights installed at like 4am, but I'm up for work at that time, so. Yeah.)  At this point I don't really care if it's a grow house, though the stoners who live on the other side of it might. The nice thing is I have this over them if they ever get to a point with their obnoxious party behavior where I feel the need to call the cops. They still gather there on the weekends to party in the backyard until all hours with Lynyrd Skynyrd on repeat. Ugh.

my neighborhood is much changed . While I spend time at my friend's and that provides the love thy neighbor milieu complete with her family and ancillary characters.

But my crib is in an apartment complex -neither small nor large-there is the balcony tier and the patio people. Of course the balcony down two is occupied by a guy and girl I met and befriended at Deb's where i had first landed for a couple months.

A lot of "how's it goin'? ' beautiful day" exchanges but I have cultivated the neighbors who are as we used to say cool. Best friends live right across the entry door to me. The gal used to leave items by her doorway that I did not feature, but once I knew the person -it mattered not. Same as when I had a teenage kid set up a basketball hoop on my fence line. The muffled thump was off putting -until-I talked to the kid, found out he is truly a great kid,AND we shot some hoops. After that the sound was almost comforting. Know what I mean?

The Neighbors beside me party all the time, the neighbors before them were two strippers that would party all of the the time, and before them was a couple that would party all of the time.  So, I guess it is a party house.  Behind me are some people who party all of the time and old people live in front of me.  They never party, but seem to sit on the porch all day and talk about stuff in the neighborhood.

We don't have neighbours at the moment. It's kind of creepy sometimes living in a building that's half empty. I'm curious to know what the new people'll be like and even more to know when others'll finally move in here.

Haha, that sounds much more optimistic, yes...

We finally got new neighbours. They moved in last week. They seem like such lovely people...
