How disgusting is this??? Hanged, shot, drowned or electrocuted. That is what happened to the dogs who performed poorly in pit bull fights. A football player from the Atlanta something-or-others has been indicted. Will he do prison time if convicted? Hope so. Here's a link to the story along with a copy of the indictment. Definitely not for queasy types.
Is there anybody any of you know who would actually support dog fighting? Is it worse-better-or the same as cock fighting? Bull fighting? What is the defense for something as cruel and sordid as what is alleged in this indictment.

When I was in high school there were some guys that were into dog fighting - it's a disgusting business. These animals live a terrible, violent, often short existence. If they get too badly mangled they're killed, or at least left to die. It's all about the gambling - no gambling and there'd be no dog fighting. There's a lot of testosterone and machoism involved - some weedy guys suddenly become big men in their own imaginations when they have a vicious dog to walk around with. It's very sad.

Just saw it in the news yesterday... :( CRUEL. Tip of the iceberg? Unfortunately I think yes. Cultural thing? Yes. But it happens in a lot of places. What about those combatant fishies? Don't remember the name. Oh well, they don't make the news. In some places they even use kids (thailand?).
Who's the animal???
The sound wind makes through the pines. The sentience of animals. What we fear and what lies beyond the darkness.

Yes, that is another angle to this story. The guy just signs to be quarterback with the professional Atlanta Falcons-- that is truely big big money, and he plays around with this stupid dog fighting enterprise exposing himself to suspention, firing, loss of product endorsements, possible year in prison or more and a reputation as an all time fool. - a brutal fool to boot. What a loser. He may even hear from the IRS before his nightmare is over.

Couldn't we just engender healthy competition amongst our wilder animal counterparts? I'm all for dolphin debates! Could I get a second here?

Could I get a second here? | And since elephants "never forget", I say we sit several of them down & have them view the entire Twin Peaks canon. THEN we see if Josh can stump 'em with his toughest trivia queries!!!
