I can't believe how horrible this movie looks... it's shaping up to be on the level of the first two Star Wars prequels... It's just sad to see Harrison Ford gear up as Indy again; some heroes should not be resurrected.

That god damn trailer's more popular than Uncle's Day in a whorehouse!

Agreed, some heroes should not be resurrected, Lenin springs immediately to mind, all waxy and craving capitalist brains, but this looks quite fun! Perhaps not on par with such recent cinematic triumphs as Inland Empire, but then that was never really meant to be fun.

This might be a pretty early observation, but I'd say while 2007 was a banner year for independent, mid- to low-budget films, 2008 will be jam-packed with good ol' Hollywood spectacle.

The big names of '07 were PT Anderson, Daniel Day-Lewis, Diablo Cody, and Javier Bardem. '08 is Indy, Iron Man, James Bond, and The Joker. I'm a big enough film buff/fanboy to find that a nice balance.

I really hope that these big films don't disappoint. I can't wait to see Wall-E aswell. Last year, though, the big films were Pirates 3, Spiderman 3 and Shrek 3 plus Bourne 3. All of those apart from Bourne Ultimatum were disasters. Cloverfield, tomorrow, will be my first cinema trip of 2008.

I would call out last year's big-budjes as the McMovies: bloated, undercooked, unsatisfying afterwards. This year's flock look more like the sugary dessert at the end of the meal. But, again, it's early.

I saw the trailer for Indy 4 recently. Despite the fact that Raiders is my all-time favorite movie in the history of cinema, I hesitantly say that the trailer was slightly underwhelming. I hope my gut feelings about it are wrong. I hope I am thoroughly overwhelmed by a great movie this summer. But the trailer just didn't have that much magic to it, somehow. Hopefully it's just because there's not a lot of the actual movie visible in it (trailers which seem to show 90% of the film they are supposed to tease is an unfortunate trend in movie marketing, and another subject entirely).

Love the old ones, but I think this new Indy film will be the Phantom Menace of the franchise.

Read some dismal pre-reviews yesterday from Cannes where the word is drifting out most negatively.  Plastic jungles and too many jokes about aging Harrison Ford's Jones.

If you can believe it, I've never seen any of the Indiana Jones movies and was surprised to learn this is the fourth.

I watched it last friday.

It was funny and exciting. I wouldn't compare it to Phantom Menace at all. I think this movie is Spielberg 100%. I know Lucas produced it and stuff, but I don't feel him in this project enough. And that's a relief because Lucas is done with the Star Wars saga and should be content with that (maybe sharing some of his money with me and you wouldn't hurt... Oh and JOHN HURT is in this movie and he rocks despite his pathriarchal age :)

There's a quite interesting, anticlimatic opening act.

It's basically a movie about aliens. So, if you don't like the genre, I don't see why waste your time watching it... It's set in 1957. Area 51, Russians, military secrets and alien stuff are crammed in it. Of course, there's a few nice action & humour scenes that are right there to please the Indy die-hard fans. A legendary one, in my opinion, will remain the jeep chase in the mexican jungle. It's an adventurous movie and there's also a mystery to be solved. Spielberg used the new technology in this movie to compensate what couldn't absolutely be done in the first 3 movies, which by the way I watched during my childhood and just liked because they were entertaining, not necessarily great.

I don't believ the CGI in this movie is bad and, by the way, there are only a few moments where it's used glaringly and it's naturally done on purpose. I also must say that this is one of Spielberg's best in years. This kind of movie is his best and I must say that he didn't manage to really amaze and entertain me like this since Jurassic Park (1993). Well, maybe he went close with WOTW, but the movies he's been making in the last decade weren't his most inspiring.

Harrison Ford does his best and he definitely doesn't look his age.

Cate Blanchet is the funniest villain I've ever seen.

Karen Allen is ridiculously comic and funny.

Shia Labeouf's character is a cinematic homage that mixes Marlon Brando and James Dean's character in the roaring movies of those years.

Only a few other words...

Don't overanalyze everything and just watch this movie, appreciate it for what it is. Pure entertainment.

The first time Mutt *shudder* rolls out of the fog on his hog, he looks like Rob Halford, I almost sang "breakin' the lawww!" in the theater. CrysKull is largely an unneccesary endeavor, but it had its moments, and I never mind looking at Kate Blanchett.

Really? Didn't see that, only noticed the obvious Marlon Brando in The Wild One homage.

I'm a rabid Star Wars fan, but George Lucas needs to keep his filthy paws off film scripts.

Aliens...seriously...aliens?  This movie was almost as bad as the second (Temple of Doom) and that's saying a lot.

Indiana Jones has already had spirits inside the Ark of the Convenant, beating hearts taken out of bodies, the Holy Grail. I don't see why aliens can't be in Indy's world aswell.
