Obvoiusly everyone here would run to anything David Lynch comes out with in the movies. what other directors immediately say to you I am seeing that movie at the theatres? for me aronofsky and fincher are a couple, yours?

They are either dead, or they just don't make interesting movies anymore. So, I guess my answer is no one.

There seem to be some interesting film makers across the pont who can't gather the money to be able to show it to the European audience.
I hear alot about them .. but .. words.

Martin Scorcese is about the only one. I always go see his films within the first week to ten days of release. And often more than once.

Used to be the Coen Brothers until they started sucking ass through a straw. Let's hope the new one is a return to form.

Ang Lee is about the only other filmmaker I can say in recent years I look forward to seeing his films upon release. (Lasse Hallstrom too but I haven't see his last 3 in the theater, The Shipping News was the last one I saw at the cinema).

I would have to add Tarantino since I have seen all his films in the theater, so it's only fair I give him props.

Ridley Scott: I will go see his movies because of how his directing style often lends itself to a good cinematic experience and I am really looking forward to American Gangster even if Denzel is in it.

3 newer directors that I have seen the vast majority of their films at the show and look forward to seeing their films are Alejandro Inarritu, Christopher Nolan and Wes Anderson.

He takes a while to make new movies like Lynch but I will go see his stuff at the show and that is Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Sam Mendes and Anthony Minghella get honorable mention.

Have you seen the preview for the new one? It certainly looks like a return to form. I'm very excited by it.

Others who I anticipate seeing their movies in theaters:
-Wes Anderson
-Tarantino
-PT Anderson
-christopher Nolan

and while he doesn;t traditionally direct, just writes, I always flock to a Charlie Kaufman film (he will be directing the new one this year)

all my others would require some pretty interesting feets in modern science in order to put out a movie in theaters again

I feel the same way you do about Charlie Kaufmann's writing skills and am always interested in seeing films where he is responsible for the screenplay. Another screenwriter (and since he broke off his collaboration with Inarritu) is Gullermo Arriaga, very good, who also wrote the screenplay for The Three Burals of Melquiades Estrada, been wondering what he is gonna do next.
