sissy spacek did a purty good darn job acting as lorretta  lynn's character, tommy lee jones did fantastic in this film too!

I am not a great fan of modern country music these days, but the classic singers like lynn, williams, jones, & nelson, I  seem to get comfortable with their music johnny cash is a must!!!

There's a new Music Biopic parody film coming this Christmas called Walk Hard, starring John C. Reilly as country music "legend" Dewey Cocks (). I assume it doesn't star Will Ferrell only because Reilly can actually sing. Thankfully the Epic Movie guys have nothing to do with this-- it's cowritten by Judd Apatow and Jake "Zero Effect" Kasdan, and directed by Kasdan.

On the more serious front (though no less bizarre) is the Bob Dylan experiment I'm Not There, where seven actors embody seven different aspects of Dylan's personality. It's written and directed by Todd Haynes, the man who gave us Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story.

Well, last I checked, Superstar (filmed entirely with Barbie dolls) was still unavailable to "us", as the Carpenter estate would not allow it's release. The Dylan  film seems like a bit more "serious" project (though I'm surprised they're going to try & finish it, given Susan's opposition).  I dig the controversial portrayal of Jerry Lee Lewis by Dennis Quaid in the "cartoonish" Great Balls of Fire. But J.L.L. approved it and he IS cartoonish!  Speaking of, check out his amazing "comeback" duets album of 2006 Last Man Standing (referring to his outlasting the rest of the Million Dollar Quartet: Cash, Presley, & Perkins).   There's plenty of country legends who deserve their own movies: Bill Monroe, Bob Wills, Tammy Wynette, Buck Owens,  Hank W. I... but will Hollywood bite?

Why do fools fall in love - The story about the tragic life of Frankie Lymon. A young man with huge talent and a huge drug habit.

say what you will, but Superstar is a very disturbing work and probably the most realistic portrait of the Carpenter family, the mother in particular...otherwise I would have to go with Coal Miner's Daughter, Sweet Dreams, Walk The Line....and that's all I got right now...
