King's new book Cell came out this week (guess he couldn't remain retired ).

I got about 10 pages into it last night and noticed something pretty quickly - it feels/reads like a Richard Bachman book. Yes, yes, King and Bachman are teh same, but the writing style and feel from a King and Bachman book are sometimes different. Bachman is a little more raw and edgy and I got that feeling when reading the first few pages.

Has anyone noticed this?

Man, I've been seeing this everywhere. It's definitely having the shit promoted out of it.

King and I need a little time apart, though. I dunno if this book will even be a priority for me down the line. I'll have to pay attention to the word on the street. (By street I mean those people whose tastes I trust.)

King and I have had a little time apart for a few years now. I love the Dark Tower Series but Wizard and Glass bored me so and I've yet to finish it, and I think that was the beginning of my inability to read King's books in their entirety. Cell has me though. So far so good - it's more along the lines of some of his earlier works so far.

Surprisingly, I got through W&G pretty easily. I guess since I was reading them all back-to-back, I just went with the flow. I even managed to get through about 19 (ha, imagine that) of the 23-disc audiobook version, before my interest tapered off.

I know you guys probably have read this by now, but I just bought it today!! I am so excited!! I can't WAIT until I finsih my current read, which I almost have, (still Liza Dalby's Geisha, which I seem to have been reading for eternity!) so  I can sink my teeth into it!  I LOVE King and it's far too long  since he's had a new decent novel out!!  I hope this is worth the £17!

Well, so anyway, I am now well over halfway into this and I am loving it!  I can't BELIEVE what has just happened to someone though!! (Anyone else up to/past about Kent Pond will know what I'm on about...)
