I love to dance, though nowadays I generally just flail around a bit, especially when encouraged by lots of alcohol. Back in my high school days, though, I did cheerleading and choreographed some of our musicals. It was great because the director had a twisted sense of movement and so I was given almost carte blanche to come up with new and unusual ways to pull off dance sequences. My favorite to this day was the one I did for a non-musical (and pretty non-dancing play) called The Mouse that Roared.

Anyway. Sorry. I'm all babbly tonight. :)

I like to dance, bot spaz style, and at the monthly square dance at the Y.  I may not be coordinated, but it is still pretty fun.

Like that old lady from Annie Hall, I was once "quite a lively dancer".  But I don't go out "gyrating" that much anymore. No partner.  And like sex, it can be done alone, but is better with a companion. I'm a "white boy" & can shake it up with the best of 'em, thank you.

The only two times I've danced with a partner were at weddings.  (I'm too short even in heels.)   I have been paid to go-go, and dabbled in burlesque locally. (NOT nude!!!)   Too much homework this year, though.

'The Mouse that Roared.'

hmmm...i recall a small clothing store using this phrase in all their advertisements. i thought they'd come up with it on their own; i didn't know that it was the name of a play.

interesting indeed.

as far as dancing goes, i can only dance to reggea/dancehall.

but i used to pogo me ass off back in the day at punk shows.

alas, i will have life-long shin splints due to that activity!!

it's pileated, isn't it?

Ha! Wasn't expecting to see that. I actually went out dancing for the first time in what felt like forever this weekend.   (Hope Josh is continuing to do well with his professional endeavors.)

Well, Angel was supposed to dance on my rental car (ala Blue Velvet) while I sang at the Fest a few years back, but she wasn't feeling up to it & opted to work the box office instead (you can view us both on Beymer's Here We Are One More Time mini-doc).   Last Sunday, my son, his mom & I danced for about 100 minutes to the supremely funky closing night show for the re-formed Was (Not Was). Met a guy who went to school in Detroit with Don &  David, waaaayyy back in the day. His name is Michael Loceff, lives in the Seattle area now & makes his living as one of the head writers for a TV show called 24. I don't really watch much television, but I'm told that this "program" is pretty popular. He previously crafted scripts for La Femme Nikita.

I love dancing!  My hubby and I took salsa lessons a couple of years ago.  He has 2 left feet, so I don't get to dance as much as I wish I could.  My son and I dance in the living room everyday.

off topic:  anyone know how I can get a hold of Angel????

Suavey, next time I make it over to the top left side, I will dance on your car via Blue Velvet.. hopefully Angel is with me hee hee.

I have done prophetic spontaneous dancing and dancing at concerts like NIN, POD and Iron Maiden. But I really don't think you would call it dancing, but jumping up and down and yelling. A girl tried to teach me to swing dance once, but it didn't work out, LOL.

Lately I'm fascinated by the Carolina Shag, a kind of understated swing where the guy does all the fancy moves. (In that movie, Shag, Scott Coffey wins a shag contest with Annabeth Gish.)  You can find videos of it on youtube. It's pretty cool.

Dancing to Northern Soul is my thing, well when I was a little younger. A crowd of us used to travel around the UK to All nighters just good music and dancing. Like the type in the video I have linked

I love to dance but, well redbear dances poorly with others.  Something between my social inhibition circuit and my motor coordination arcs and bad things happen.  But since I don't really care if I look like a fool I serve a useful function, others see me and think 'well hell, that guy don't care, maybe it'll be okay if I move a little bit too.'  Or least that is what I tell my self.

SWEET!

But it'll have to be follow the Me, dear! (And good luck doing that! (Typical comment; 'Is he dancing or having some kind of fit?'))
