You took my post out of context. And missed the tongue in cheek nature of it.

QUOTE:Oh yeah, how could I forget Rocky, a ridiculously overrated movie? Final fight scene is the only part worth watching; horrible acting all around, even from the wonderful Talia Shire. I totally agree with Mask, and pretty much any Jim Carrey comedy (with the exception of Series of Unfortunate Events, which would fall into the "movies everyone hated and I sort of liked category... love the books though) and I just thought of Rush Hour (hate, hate, hate that series)... but since when does "everyone love" Mask 2?
I saw Rocky when it was first released (before the advent of the VCR) & liked it just fine.  And, uh, the MASK reference was my in response to my Bullwinkle & ROCKY joke, as MASK was the story of Rocky Dennis, the soulful Eric Stoltz character of misshapen face.  The movie you mean is The Mask, based upon the graphic novel of the same name (which I also like just fine).  Nobody likes The Mask 2 (actually called Son of The Mask).

Donnie Darko. That's all i'll say really because words fail me in expressing how much i think this movie completely and utterly sucks every bollock on the planet. Shamalayan's films shine like masterpieces when compared to that pile of shite, and i hate his films too. (Maybe except Unbreakable.... SIX OF US! YAY!)

Napoleon Dynamite. It's not funny. At all.

The Ring. I've done scarier turds.

Apocalypto. Not a bad story to be honest, and some of the images are beautiful, but i am seriously worried about the state of Mel Gibson's sanity these days. People who have seen it will know what i mean.

That's all i can think of for now, i'm supposed to be cooking!

I definitely agree with Napoleon Dynamite. Just weird, not funny. I don't know how it ever became popular. I'm interested to know why you think Donnie Darko is so terrible though....

That god damn trailer's more popular than Uncle's Day in a whorehouse!

It just jumped on the whole "let's make a twist" bandwagon, and in the process just failed to make any sense and made the whole film into a complete waste of time. I thought the cast was great, and some of the acting was fantastic too, i just think the film is trying to be something it isn't. I think the director watched Mulholland Drive a few times immediately before putting pen to paper too.

I always get crap for this but I absolutely hated Casablanca and Gone with the Wind.  Don't ask me why, but I found them to both SUCK ROYALLY!  I also hated the Sound of Music.  I guess since the Godfather and Fritz Lang's M are my two fave movies, that kind of explains why I may hate those films a bit....

I'm probably overlooking the real reason, but the only thing I can think of is I wish Peter Lorre would show up and kill these von Trapp children.

Donnie Darko was released before Mulholland Drive.

Yehbut... Mulholland Drive, television pilot, was well in the works with scripts floating around town in the late 1990s.

I'm just saying.  I have no real idea what crossed Richard Kelly's radar screen in terms of inspiration but I wouldn't rule out a Lynch influence or more specifically a Mulholland Drive influence just based on release dates.

Both films came out in October 2001.

Ok... let me change my reply to "what does Donnie Darko have in common with Mulholland Drive?".

I've never read anything where Kelly has cited Lynch as an influence. Donnie Darko owes more to Spielberg than any other director.

But clearly all "weird" movies made after Eraserhead were inspired by David Lynch. Uh-huh.

To get back on topic, I never cared for Gone with the Wind either. What exactly was so romantic about this picture?

I hate Harry Potter movies and anything to do with Harry Potter.

I also hate any Disney movie released after The Little Mermaid, which was just marginally ok even for my 9 year old tastes. (Oh, except for The Straight Story, of course.)

Hmm, maybe there was a Lynch influence after all.

I am with you folks on Almost Famous and definitely The Sound of Music. However, I love Casablanca. That is all for now.

Breakfast at Tiffany's.

I just couldn't watch it and everyone around me was praising it. I think it's a load of shit and Truman Capote's novel is way much better. Plus, I hate Audrey Hepburn.

Add me to the Donnie Darko list.  I get it...it just wasn't that fascinating though.

And put me down for any and all of the Harry Potter flicks.

I'll add everything that Sam Raimi has ever done. Especially the Evil Dead movies.
Except maybe A Simple Plan.

The Spiderman series was decent, but I didn't get the big deal; there are many superior comic book based movies. I also didn't see why Spiderman 3 was considered so much worse than the other two, yes it was too long, and slightly more flawed in it's storytelling than the other two, but it wasn't that different...
