I know it's a bit late for this thread, but I saw some people talking about it in the last movie thread so I thought I'd give it a shot:

So what does everyone think? I love anything Terminator, and liked T3 a lot, though it was obviously inferior to the other two movies. This show started out well, with a pretty traditional Terminator plot, strong performances from Lena Headey and Thomas Dekker (who is now my favorite John Connor; sure he's kind emo and sulky, but hey he's a teenager, and there are moments when he shows a great deal of bravery and leadership, unlike the annoyingly hip Edward Furlong, or the wimpy Nick Stahl), and especially Summer Glau, whose Cameron character not only blows Kristanna Loken's TX out of the water, but steals every scene she's in. It got over the hump of not having any recurring T2 actors surprisingly well, and traveling forward to the present day was a brilliant (though instantly outdated) move. Much of the dialogue is very weak though, aside from a few of Cameron's one liners (though this has never been a strong point for the franchise), and the show keeps getting swamped in weird loose ends and mysterious exchanges that seem out of place in the Terminator universe, and make the show extremely frustrating to watch. This stuff is intriguing on Lost, but annoying here. Episodes 4 and 5 (Heavy Metal and Queen's Gambit) were brilliant, giving Terminator fans exactly what they wanted, nice tight, exciting, action packed storylines, that reference the Terminator mythology (having Kyle Reese's brother, Derek Reese, appear was clever, and Brian Austin Green definitely seems like he could be Michael Bien's brother). The loose ends started to get wrapped up again, but were only multiplied by the following episodes (though I was fairly impressed by episode 7, The Demon Hand). Garrett Dillahunt is excellent too, perhaps even outdoing Robert Patrick as a Terminator (though no one beats Arnie). Can't wait to see him and Cameron (finally) go mano a mano. Basically I love the cast, and like the action scenes, but am frequently irritated by the weird plotting and vague dialogue, the show has to find some new writers. The show's entertaining at this point but wildly inconsistent, an aspect of the show that has never been clearer than in the final episode. The title is kind of weird too, Sarah doesn't get that much more screen time than John or Cameron. Glad to see the Terminator franchise is still surviving, though, as it's my favorite sci-fi franchise (next to Star Wars, which I don't feel should try it's luck again after Revenge of the Sith), this'll at least tide me over until T4... it'll be weird if that movie's released while the show's still running though. Curious on other people's thoughts...

That god damn trailer's more popular than Uncle's Day in a whorehouse!
