I have not read it, but I have seen the first movie not the one that come out later. For those of you who have read the book and seen the Kubrick film. Which one did you like better? The book or the film and why? Or did you like them both in different ways.

I like both. The King novel is more geared towards the supernatural elements while the Kubrick film is more geared around a man's descent into madness. The film is a creepy, surreal character study with awesome direction from Kubrick while the novel is just a straight up haunted house story. I recommend both. Never saw the TV remake in the 90s.

King thinks Kubrick butchered his story. The rest of us think he improved on it. The miniseries keeps the books ending, which sucks, incidentally.

King should do a story about the monster that is his ego.

SK has ticked me off of late with inserting himself as a character into the Dark Tower story. Get over yourself already!

Is the Dark Tower series even worth finishing? I've gotten so pissed off by authors who can't get their multi-book epics moving at an even have way acceptable pace (I'm looking at you Martin!) that I've all but given up on the things.

No, SK freaked out after his getting hit by a car and wrote DT 5-7. Don't do it. The ending will make you want to punch a hole in the wall.

I like both. My only reservation about the film is that "Jack" is clearly barking mad from the first frame. I'd like to see the original long edit which has never been released on dvd.
