I was reading one of his books (When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops?) in the airport one time and it was on a section about how to be a psycho terrorist or something of that nature. And this guy sitting next to me was apparently stealing glances at my book and finally asked me (in a rather nervous voice) what exactly I was reading. I debating not telling him, but he looked weirded out and I didn't feel like missing my flight because some asshat had an itchy anus. We ended up spending the rest of the wait trading Carlinisms and laughing like fools.

Gonna miss ol' George.

This bit feels appropriate for the moment.

I've been relistening to Parental Advisory: Explicit Lyrics in the car today. Maybe I'll watch The Aristocrats later, too.

One of my fave Carlin bits.

And the man was a firebrand to the end. I was lucky to catch him a year ago on TV and it did my heart good to see him again still funny still the man. I feel a real loss today.

I admit I didn't know who George Carlin was until I heard that he was dead (although I did see him play a drugged-up VW van in Pixar's Cars) but I found some funny quotes:

"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

"In America, anyone can become president. That's the problem."

"Fighting for peace is like screwing for virginity."

"I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death."

"The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

"I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older; then it dawned on me - they're cramming for their final exam."

Stayed up late and watched the first two HBO tributes and recorded the rest.

I am so glad that I got to see him last year.  Even at 70 he was on top of his game and kept the joint laughing.
